Hi, I've been reading your post and thought I'd add a couple of things you could try. Reinstall the latest direct x app, while in safe mode. Also, go into Dxdiag.exe and click the "Display" button, to check the refresh rate. If it's pretty high, try lowering it. Go to the...
When installing PCI cards, sometimes one slot works when another doesn't. for instance, I know of someone who had to install a SCSI card in PCI slot 0 or it wouldn't work. Can anyone tell me what makes them different?
Thanks, Eelad

I finally figured this one out. I'm able to replace system.dat with system.1st, then reboot. When that's done, just reinstall the OS on top. Just need to reinstall everything, but it does give a clean operating system with no data lost.
Thanks Everybody! :)
When upgrading a system with on board video, I'm wondering just what the procedure would be. For instance, would I put the video back to standard vga mode, than install the new card, than disable the onboard video in the CMOS, or will that not work?
Thanks,

Do I have this right, is the difference between scanreg and scanreg/restore,
"scanreg" restores the most recent boot, and "scanreg/restore" restores the first boot?

Hi, It says, "8/16/32/64 MB 60~70 ns SIMM module DRAM." As well as the four dimms. I'm wondering, do they ever make the interface so that the same slot can take eather SIMMs or DIMMs. The diagram in the manual makes it look that way.
Thanks,
Eelad

Hello. I'm working on a machine that is stalling durning boot up. When the Win98 logo appears you need to press "enter" in order to get it to continue booting. It only has 48MB of ram so, I was trying to find out out processor it is using without having to dig it out of the machine...
While your in your computer, you might also take a quick check to see if your power on switch attached to your power on botton on the front of your computer is firmly attached. Sometimes a dead computer can simply be the result of the power on switch not getting any power.
I have someone here that uses MS Word. He has is addresses all stored in Outlook Express. However, whenever he tries to access his addresses from MS Word, Outlook keeps coming up instead of Outlook Express.
If any one can help me on this problem, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dale
Hi, I am curious as to rather or not enabling the ps/2 mouse function in the CMOS uses up one of the com ports. I figure it does because it uses serial, but I'm not to sure as to how the ps/s works.
Thanks in advanced for your ideas.
