Hello. I'm working on a machine that is stalling durning boot up. When the Win98 logo appears you need to press "enter" in order to get it to continue booting. It only has 48MB of ram so, I was trying to find out out processor it is using without having to dig it out of the machine. It doesn't say anything on the screen durning boot up that I can notice about which processor. Also, in device manager, general, it doesn't say anything either. I'm wondering if this a dying 486, and if there is another place I can look to tell which processor. Another thing, the person who owns the maching says that it did't start happening until after they installed Corel. Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Dale

Dale2, the quickest way to find out what processor you have is to open it up, and check inside. If however you are not within 3,000,000 miles of a screwdriver, you can check the processor speed by using a direct x utility (if you have it installed) IF it is istalled, go do this directory C:\Program Files\DirectX\Setup and double click the only icon there (it'll be a short cut) Labled DxDiag. On the first tab of this screen will be all of your system informaiton, inlcuding Processor, OS, Memory ETC. I keep a copy of direct x on cd simply for this utility when I am working at a clients location, and either don't have permission to open the case, or don't have the means to do so. Hope this is helpful

Should also be accessible through start run and typing dxdiag

Thank you very much for all your help everyone. I checked the machine and it is indeed a 486. I'll jot down all the information you gave for future reference.
Thanks again,
Dale
