    XP won't boot

OK, I got a new floppy drive and with the recovery console, I got it up and working, thanks for all the suggestions! One problem I'm having is that if I change a cd (in the docking station), it will not recognize the new cd until I reboot. Any suggestions? Thanks! -=Rob

    XP won't boot

Ok, the floppy drive is hosed completely. I bought a cd rom drive. I put it into the docking station. Bios recognizes that it's there, I set it as my boot drive, put in Windows XP, and STILL get an error saying there is no bootable disk. I have no idea here.

    XP won't boot

OK, here's the problem. My floppy is giving me an disk i/o error and my cd-rom drive is a Backpack parallel drive. I have it set up through the docking station. Is there anyway to boot via a network or am I hosed? Never let your Dad borrow your perfectly working laptop :-( -=Rob It's a CSX...

    XP won't boot

It's a Dell. Naturally the floppy is acting up and it has an external cd-rom which I'm trying to get to work. I'll try your ideas, thanks! -=Rob

    XP won't boot

Yeah, same thing. I just booted with a boot disk to a command prompt. When I do a "dir" at the end it gives me "Extended error 1,928" -=Rob

    XP won't boot

Hiya! I have XP Pro in my laptop. When I try to boot up, it gets to the blue screen with the little Windows XP logo on it then it just sits there. I can't boot in safe mode either. Any suggestions? Thanks! -=Rob

Disconnecting from network on it's own

No, but I'm thinking that might be the next logical step. I'll try it and let you know.

Disconnecting from network on it's own

Hi there, At random times my XP Pro pc will disconnect from the router. I get a "Network cable was disconnected" error and I'm completely offline and off the network. Sometimes it will come back on it's own in 10 seconds or so, but other times it won't. If I reboot, I'm back online no...

Ok, now I've done it....pop up killer causing trouble with IE

Ok, I tried Netscape and still had a problem. I also tried turning off 3rd party extensions and that didn't help either. Any other ideas? Thanks! -=Rob

Ok, now I've done it....pop up killer causing trouble with IE

I installed a program the other day and it had a pop up blocker attached to it. I uninstalled the software, but I guess it didn't lose the Popup Blocker. When I go to a site like ESPN, some of the pictures won't show, pop ups show as a transparent window, weird stuff like that. Here's my...

    Losing Network

Hi there, At random times my XP Pro pc will disconnect from the router. I get a "Network cable was disconnected" error and I'm completely offline and off the network. If I reboot, I'm back online no problem. I've tried different cables, so that's not it. Any ideas? 90% of the time...

    XP Pro & Router

IT IS ALIVE! A little research on the above error told me that my problem was corrupted winsock settings in the registry. I found a little program a gentleman wrote online and voila! all set. Thank you to everyone here who pitched in, you guys are awesome! -=Rob

    XP Pro & Router

I connected the pc that isn't working directly to the cable modem. When I typed ipconfig/release, it went though fine. But when I typed ipconfig/renew, I got this: An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection 10: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket...

    XP Pro & Router

Yeah, I tried uninstalling the gateway, had no effect. If I set all pc's to receive dynamically, #1 & #2 still work fine, but #3 then does not talk to web OR network. I uninstalled Norton to keep that from being an issue -=Rob

    XP Pro & Router

OK, I tried setting it to all 0's. The MAC address it came up with after that is the same one it had before. I also put in the addresses where you said on that pc and still no go. It'll talk to the others but not on the web. The other 2 work just fine. I can ping a website using the ip...

    XP Pro & Router

OK, let me clarify: All I did was try to clone using the mac address for #1. When I did that, neither pc would go online. I didn't try the address for #3. "Then what we want to do is NOT to clone a MAC address, place all zeros there." Where? In the MAC area in the router setup...

    XP Pro & Router

I tried setting that address as the mac address. When I rebooted, pc #1 wouldn't go online. I put it back to what it was and I'm back where I was before. This thing is putting up a fight LOL -=Rob
