Guys thanks for all your help - all taken onboard. We have 3rd party email tool that sits as an Outlook toolbar - this maybe the cause!
With regards to the mailbox store registry size increase - are there any other factors to be aware of. Backups the obvious one but a hike to 25Gb should cause...
Hi!
I plan to defrag the mailbox store/add registry keys to update the 18gb limit and update the limits at the store level.
Only reason I plan to defrag is because Outlook can be slow to start-up on client PC's and occasionaly we get an 'Outlook is trying to receive ....' message/pop-up...
Hi!
I'm looking to move our Exchange server to new hardware. We will probably also upgrade it to Exchange 2007 possibly next year. Does Exchange 2003 work on a 64 bit version? Before I even look at moving Exchange I want to make sure the new server can handle an Exchange 2007 upgrade in the...
Hi thanks for the response. Presume its just a case of uninstalling MS Exchange (to unisntall the ESM) from add/remove (from the DC). Would the removal cause any issues with live Exchange?
Cheers
We have a Windows 2003 server (SP3) that is a Domain Controller. It is also running an instance of Exchange System Manager (this server is not our primary Exchange server). I have noticed some application log errors that I cant find any information to troubleshoot so wondering if anyone can...

That's a step in the right direction. When this freeze occurs im sure its a particular file the user is performing file operations but its identifying which file that is.
Some kind of counter to to list user file activity when the peak occurs or something???
Hi
Quick question ...
We have a Dell Poweredge 2900 (file and print) 2003 server which has Raid 5 for the data drive. Occasionally the Average Disk Queue spikes at 100% which casues a freeze. Is there any way to find out which file (or process) is causing this issue. Have looked at other...
Thnaks Guys; can I just recap:
1. The 192.168.138.X subnet used for remote access to give IP's to remote clients.
2. The above subnet doesnt have an DC in it but lets say for example that the Default-First-site-Name contains a DC.
Thefore I need to:
1. Create a new Site
2. Create a new...
Hi
Our firewall is hosted by our ISP who recently setup remote VPN access into the office via a Cisco client. In order to set this up we provided an IP subnet for the clients not used such as 192.168.138.X. However each time a remote user is authenticated remotely the system log of the DC...
Hi!
It must be an internal DNS problem but I can’t see where (my DNS knowledge inst great though). There are no errors in the event logs so I am at a loss. What would determine how an email gets out? Our MX record is pointing to a public IP address provided by our ISP - they have confirmed that...
Any help would be much appreciated with the following:
Since on of our (W2K3) domain controllers in a branch was rebooted we have been unable to send/receive email from our W2K3 Exchange server at head office. Prior to the reboot the DNS configuration for the sever was pointing to another...
Hi
Would appreciate any assistance with the following:
We have a W2K3 Domain (native) that spans a head office and branch connected via VPN . DC's are installed at a main office and also one at the branch. For some reason the branch DC has always pointed to a Windows 2000 server as the...
Thanks Guys. Problem is some directories contain such a broad range of files - some that compress and some don’t. So I would probably look to compress from the folder level (even if it does mean compressing files that wont compress any further). A test folder was 25Gb and has now dropped down to...
Hi
Does anyone have any views or experience of compressing files and folders on Windows 2003 file and print server (via folders advances attributes). Its seems an ideal way of saving on disk space but I'm wondering if there will be any performance hit. Data drive on Server is (hardware) Raid 5...
Yes that correct we have 2 existing sites configured - we have the default first site name for the main office (2 DC's) and an existing branch office site (1 DC).
At the moment DEFAULTSITEIPLINK contains the 3 DC's for the 2 sites so I will need to create a separate site link (and replication)...
Hi Guys - so basically I can setup a new AD site for the new branch then a new subnet (pointing the new subnet to the new site) with no DC's in the equation?
Existing setup was one main office and one site (DC's at both locations) with new site and member server for new office.
The new site I...
