I have a HP Colarado 20 GB tape drive which I would like to back up a Netware 3.12 server including the bindery. The HP software seems Microsoft specific, is there any way around this?
We are a maintaining several networks at a High School, one of which is using a Netware 3.12 server for transfer of data files to a mainframe. Currently we are using Arcserve to backup the data files and the bindery but we would like to transfer this to a Netware 5 server. We have a spare HP...
We are running a network in a High School with approx 1300 users. We need a program which can tell us who is logged onto a workstation on our NT Domain. We would like a program that can keep track of what a user is doing, but like Novell, have the ability to administrate connection access.
Recently we were preparing to Down our server (Arcserve problems) and found that one user hadn't logged off so I went to log off the user. Meantime my colleague was locking out users from the server to prevent them logging back in. Whilst he was waiting for me the screensaver came on, and locked...
Thanks Michelle. There are other machines plugged into the same power socket which seem to be OK but they are not from the same manufacturer so it is still possible, but I hadn't even thought about it !

I see. Then your only hope is by posting your problem with Compaq technical dept or surf the net for an alternative way into the BIOS. It strikes me that Compaq technicians must have better access to the BIOS than you so there must be a back door. Good Luck
I don't know the answer but I still have some questions!
Where you say " when I booted up after getting the right config I saw it found a slave drive and then it installed the controller for the hard disk and it worked fine" it occurred to me it should have found Secondary master for...
It sounds like a BIOS problem. In replacing the battery you have cleared the settings to the manufacturers default settings. Whose BIOS is it? You may be able to go their web site and see the effect of their settings/configurations. It may be something simple like entering SVGA instead of VGA.
Wow.. what a message. It sounds like your connections are O.K. I assume that you have set up the second HDD in the BIOS. Have you tried looking in the BIOS after you switch back on to see if the second HDD settings are still there.
Thanks for the reply. We have no beeps. The power fan, the CPU fan, and the case fan all work correctly. The HDD light comes on briefly. The FDD light does not come on.
Originally we did take out the CPU and RAM. I will check that they are properly connected, but I won't have access to the...
I've just taken over an NT 4.0 server which we manually backup every day. I have been told the scheduler doesn't work correctly because of a problem with the licencing module. Sounds mad to me, has anyone else experienced this?
We have an ATX machine which occasionally loses power suddenly during use. We switched the power unit on and off and rebooted and it would then work OK for some time. Recently the machine started to lose power suddenly quite quickly so that it would lose power on boot after about 30 seconds. We...
