Our company plans on ignoring the problem for the few weeks that it will cause the problem. Microsoft told me yesterday that it would cost $4,000 dollars for the hotfix(es) (down from $40,000)... We are upgrading Exchange but it won't happen until middle of this year...
Perhaps there is no way....
Can the original file creation date be preserved when saving an attachment? Using outlook 2003 and Exchange 2000.

"Hi, I'm...
Trying to find some solutions for rogue machine scanning/detection. The few that I have found, network monitors with some type of rogue scanning, fail due to the fact that they only work if the rogue machine responds to icmps. So for a rogue machine with blackice or some firewall software...
Good day all.
Quite some time ago (when we upgraded to a win2k domain) I came across a really informative document that explained the differences of the restrictions applied by a GPO. This document talked about the registry based and the temp (session) edits. It also talked about what...

Man has work been killing me!
Yeah bowfonz , I'm the Network Admin in your scenario. Verify is an option that I cannot disable.
We are using a Cybernetics Library (15 tapes) which has a Sony 700 SDX Tape drive. We have brand spanking new tapes. We clean often.
What's of real interest is...
I'm sure that I'm the only one experiencing this (seems to be the trend lately).
The backup takes place fine, then verify takes sooo loong (abnormally). The backup and verify exceeds. I'm using Backup Exec 9.0 on windows 2000 server.
Anyone hear of this or experience this...
Do these play a role in what I’m experiencing?
This is the weirdest thing. I have a w2k server running IIS 5 (thewebserver). When logged onto this server at console and navigating to the website for which it is hosting, authentication works fine. If any other computer on the network...
Sure, Partition Magic works wonders!
No you do not need to reinstall XP to use NTFS. Just run the convert command as I posted above from the command prompt.
c:>convert c: /FS:NTFS
and so on

Correct (techincally) if you convert that partition to NTFS you will no longer see it with a bootable floppy. There are many utilities that will allow you to see NTFS partitions from a bootable floppy though.
And if I understand the second question, it is irrelevent what filesystem you are...
If converting the filesystem is an option....
>convert /?
Converts FAT volumes to NTFS.
CONVERT volume /FS:NTFS [/V] [/CvtArea:filename] [/NoSecurity] [/X]
volume Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon),
mount point, or volume name.
/FS:NTFS Specifies that...
I'm looking at www.netinstall.com right now. I'll also take a look at 1-vision. Thanks

I've been through this before..
What we do is this. Our policy is no personal laptops also, but there are those times that someone higher up strongly suggests that person needs inet access.
We have a seperate subnet and firewall that hosts a test machine, complete with dhcp, dns server. If...
Well it wasn't an option before. As of recently I have asked the supervisor permission to investigate other services. SMS 2003 and WinInstall 8 are in the lab now, going through some real life tests.

Hi dazzer123,
Interesting, I became fed up with the useless thing myself just the other day. I haven't found an option in group policy.
I have not done this yet because it just came to mind. What I'm going to try is re-creating my administrative distro point and removing the assistant...
Hi jc999,
Welcome to a new form of headaches. MSI building and deploying is so much fun. =)
Ill just write a quick note then give you a link or two that has helped me on this journey.
First, Many softwares are already packaged in an MSI and may only need a MST (transform file, that dictates...
Do you have any filtering on for either of the event logs?
