If using Exchange 5.5 as your mail server:
If the spamming is coming from a single domain, or a few, block them at the IMS level on the Connections tab > message filtering.
However, this does not solve the route of the problem, which is internet free roaming.
Also, as someone has mentioned...
Well,
If you are using Outlook then:
FILE > NEW > TASK
select the reminder check box, select when you want the reminder to start and finish. Then select if you want to assign this task yourself.
If it aint outlook, then choose:
POST-IT NOTE > ON MONITOR

Depends.
If you have a full online backup from November and a spare 'recovery' server.
Build the recovery server with the same details as your email server and restore the dir.edb and priv.edb run isinteg and then connect to it as the problem user and hope you can find it.
A very long drawn...
Hi Tony,
The NDR you posted is stating that the person your user is sending to doesnt exist on that destination server. This isnt a problem with your users external email.
He has either mistyped the email address or the person he is trying to send to doesnt exist by that address anymore.
'550...
Store.exe does use a lot of resources.
i would suspect that the server you have is not capable of sustaining the mailboxes and proceesses that Exchange is throwing at it.
Post the spec and the amount of Users you have.
Also this may be of some use...
Need more info.
Is he using outlook?
Where is he sending to?
Can he receive mail?
Does he receive any Undeliverable messages?
Has this suddenly started happening?
Are there any limits set on his mailbox?
Have you checked the x400 and smtp addresses?
Cheers
In essence, yes. But it does take a short while to update. I cant remember the real reasons.
You will notice it changed most likely tomorrow. I dont beleive it is instantaneous.
it could be to do with the deleted item retention time. There are time limits you can change that reflect how often...
If he is using OL2k, go to his machine, right click on his 'Outlook today - [mailbox - username]' and choose PROPERTIES.
Then choose FOLDER SIZE. It will give you a break down of where the most items are and in what folder. Pin point the problem and then sort.
Then you can teach the user to do...
VPN.
If you are going to be mapping drives, transfering mail and spending at least 10 minutes a time sending 5mb attachments, this would probably be a cheaper option.
As fuego007 quite rightly said, you cant have differing size limitations that reflect how you connect. But a VPN would give the...
'Inbound and outbound' on the 'connections' tab on IMS properties in administrator is selected right?
Also, check that your smtp and X400 address is all correct in the properties of your mail box.
Is this just affecting you?
How do you connect to your server?
cheers
Tell the powers that be what you have told us. My environment is set to warning at 70mb, prohibit at 80mb. 400 users. More than enough room. Most of it will be attachments. Users are notoriously lazy.
As for large personal folders, inform them that they do not get backed up as they are on the...
Mike,
There are'nt really that many differences between the two. I generally do an offline back-up once every two months.
However, any disaster recovery exercises i have practiced with have always involved online backup restores to a server recovery server with the same name with no snags.
I...
A quick search on Technet or Google can usually uncover various articles on the pros and cons.
However, i always beleive that 'if it aint broke, dont fix it'

'Error 550' is an error generated by the destination server that the recipient resides on, not yours. It looks as if the mail has left your domain with no problems, but it seems there is some sort of restriction or problem on the recipients server. If you are not the admin for that server, try...
Phil,
I take it you have checked this users smtp address and X400 address? You could try deleting these and recreating.
Also, you dont mention wether the user can receive external mail? How does the user connect to the server, is it direct on the LAN or through VPN/dial-up etc.
Cheers
