Hi,

We use Exchange5.5 with NT4.0. The system backup is done every night & it is all ok, but we were never able to run brick lavel backup successfully.

Now, we have user who sent email in december & wants it recovered. However, user has not been archiving & has been deleted it from sent & deleted items folders. Is there any way of getting this email back?

Please help.

Depends.

If you have a full online backup from November and a spare 'recovery' server.

Build the recovery server with the same details as your email server and restore the dir.edb and priv.edb run isinteg and then connect to it as the problem user and hope you can find it.

A very long drawn out process to retrieve one mail.

Otherwise no.

Personally, i would create a deleted item retention policy and have HR distributed it.

Also, search technet for 'dumpsteralwayson' and apply the contents of this article to your server.

You will then be able to retrieve deleted emails (within reason) for up to a month.
