Having read other threads with regard to mails staying in the outbound queue in exchange stating host unreachable, i have exactly the same problem. It is especially bad to one domain, or should I say one isp who hosts aload of other domains.
Now I have tried doing nslookup to check mx records, tried reverse dns lookup and have connected via smtp session for which all works.
Speaking to a friend of mine he has done a number of tests and see on his smtp logs that this domain doesn't like our exchange server because of the name. Servers name is BH1_NT4 and because of the underscore this is causing mail to not be sent out. Is an underscore an illegal character according to smtp?
If so then it could explain a number of problems we are having!!
Can some body help thanks.
