SnortALog w/ PIX syslog events (logging on) IDS

Anyone able to parse syslog events with snortalog? The software gives the option for 'pix' but all the entries get dropped in the log file. Using PIX Firewall Syslog Server (PFSS) for the capture. The snortalog package is working 100% for all other IDS linux based systems. The PIX OS is a legacy...

    Auto Delete Double Bounce Spam

I have a qmail server relaying mail to another server that is using LDAP. The qmail server is acting as a backup MX server. What can be done about messages received by qmail but rejected upon relay to the main server due to an invalid mailbox? Obviously the spam messages have invalid return...

File Transfers over Cisco VPN WAN

What's your bandwidth? There are many many different factors. We have t-1's des vpn'd internationally and the ping response time is 140ms on avg (during off hours). Our t-1 3des vpn's in the states have avg 300ms (during business hours). Depending on the amount of transfers of that size and how...

    VPN firewall or router

Just the FW. The newer cisco routers have VPN capabilities. VPN's can be done on FW's or Routers but both would be redundant unless you have some sort of special setup. Special setup would be pix's vpn'd behind router to router vpns with allot of subnetting.

How can restore Exchange 5.5 from backup?

The best bet is to do offline backups of the edb. The logs are not needed with a consistant shut down (taking the edb offline). Restore from an offline DB is the best bet if you have one. We had veritas exec online backups only which caused all kinds of problems upon restore (missing contact...

Email being delivered to wrong mailbox

Sounds like an account creation problem with inconsistant naming conventions. Occasionally we have email delivered to people not addressed to (and not BCC'd). This is only with SPAM though and very very rare. There are a ton of techniques to get mail delivered in Exch 5.5 incorrectly. Do you...

    audio problem

Have you checked to see if the output from the headphone jack on the CD player is okay (if you have one)? Regardless, make sure you have the latest audio drivers for your sound card. That can cause these type of problems.

CAN WIN2K BE SET TO AUTO SHUTDOWN

Maybe someone can shed some light? I have a 2k box that enters a nonresponsive "sleep" mode after ~30 minutes on the first power up only. No power options are set in OS/BIOS. It's been driving me crazy. It only happens once a day and when it does the plug has to be pulled.

W2k Pro has started doing very strange things

What's in the event viewer? Did the software come with the DVD player or is it 3rd party? Do you have an antivirus software running? If not, you can do a free online virus scan: http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym You can always do a windows 2000 recovery from...

Browsing network drives suddenly VERY slow/hang

How about an antivirus software? Do you have any real-time exchange protection running?
  20. jdeaner

    Hang !!

Get zone alarm off the computer especially if it is a server. Try something like Symantec's firewall or get a cheap router with a built in FW.
