Whenever playing audio cd's in windows media player the sound comes out at 2x the speed. I am using a win 2k operating system. Any suggestions, have tried replacing the cd drive, still didn' work.
Thanks for any suggestions.

It's version 9.00.00.38

How about playing another player .
Is it still problems.
Start - run - mplayer2.exe

Have you checked to see if the output from the headphone jack on the CD player is okay (if you have one)? Regardless, make sure you have the latest audio drivers for your sound card. That can cause these type of problems.

Also, make sure that another program is not interfering with WMP.

To eliminate or isolate the problem ,i recommend to try
playing the cd in the native mediaplayer 6.
If it's still 2X problems in mplayer2.exe ,then is's not problems with the WMP9 .
If it is so, you have to look elswhere than WMP9.
If it plays okay in mplayer2.exe then there is a problem
with WMP9 .
