Thanks for being nice when you called me on it. :)
Can you tell I'm in the midst of a system wide conversion and have to upgrade my old software this week to be able to have the new??? It's crunch time.
Plus my backup system is giving me fits.
The good thing is, if it gets too bad, there's a...
My server logs on my NAV just drop off the bottom after a certain amount of time.
I just now "dropped" from the end of Dec. a user clicking on an email attachment that was malicious. Had to look at that in my logs for months.
I don't know what the default time period is, I've just left it...
I was in the same boat a few months back. I'm running 2000 server as my PDC with my DNS and AD on it, raid 5. I was told by someone higher up to ignore it until the server starts throwing me messages, so I did. Bad move. (lesson learned)
Unf. I had to purchase a $500 piece of software to move...
Ok, I just forced today's backup to see what's going on. I let it get to 9% and cancelled. RDS.exe is running while the backup is going. After I cancelled, the DB engine quit again. I restarted it.
Also, under admin.exe I try to log in and get a message. Velocis administrator - unable to get...
I certainly hope it's not due to corruption. We are in the middle of a data upgrade and I'm down to the wire on this.
This seems to have happened after the latest batch of MS patches. Problem never existed before this.
The MS patches were the last change to the server. No other changes made...
Hello,
Having an "issue" - any suggestions are appreciated.
Running windows 2000 domain controller and v.9 arcserve.
Each night after my arcserve runs, my database engine stops. If I am not here each morning to restart the engine, the next backup will not run.
I have been thru the brightstor...
Reasons like this that I try to keep ghosted images of my C drives, keep decent backup copies that are restorable, and pray for the best.
Users never seem to notice the job you're doing if you do it correctly, but, let something go wrong and suddenly you're the person of the moment.
I am now...
In a Win 2000 system I've got only system admins in the admin group. All others are either power user or restricted user. One person who unknowingly infested their machine with spyware, probably repeatedly, is now a restricted user with no problems. And this person doesn't know they are a...

Hello,
I've got a question and I'm not seeing any easy answer to this, maybe it's so obvious I'm just missing it...
I want to do my MS office updates without using the CD at each workstation. All my workstations are running 2000 and I've got a 2000 server.
Is there an easy answer to this...
Hello,
Thanks for the instructions, they were very helpful. However, I did find a file with this name in the pre/post modification screens. So I deleted them, did Save As, then went back into it, and it shows again.
At this point, I think I'm going to have to "nuke" my Monday backup...
Has anyone seen this error and what does it mean?
Only on my Monday tapes does this show up at the top of my job log.
Run command: 2:00:00.
E9003
Unable to execute command.
(cmd=2:00:00, EC=file not found)
I'm running v.9 on a 2000 server. However, when I continue thru the job log, the backup...
Thanks so much for all the advice. At this time, I think I'll wait it out and keep what I've got that's working right now.
*If it's not broke, don't fix it!*
Hello,
Who among us has received and installed the corporate edition symantec 8.1 upgrade and has anyone installed it on a 2000 server? Plus I've still got some ancient 95 clients who require my legacy cd still in the server. I assume this will still apply. I've not read the documentation just...
I'm using winselect that comes with the windows package. You can pretty much pick and choose per user what to lock them out of. And I've got one machine that my users tend to "destroy" on a fairly frequent basis, every office has one of those...I think they're trying to make their...
My opinion is :
1. I wasn't sure who the audience was for the webpage...the home user, small business, general public, new user, advanced user.....my first thought was "does this information apply to me?" I hope that makes sense.
2. I don't care for the color scheme, for instance...
Or the easy and cheap way....one large cable tie to go around a desk or table leg, then one small one linked thru the large and holds the mouse cable. Make it loose enough to let the mouse cable slide for use, but yet tight enough to not allow the plug end to slip thru.
Would still be able to...
