I had the same problem restoring from a W2k NetBackup DataCenter 3.4.1 server to a Linux Red Hat 7.1 client. It takes 39 hours to restore the machine.

Your firt DC machine is named machine1.domainname.com, and others machine2.domainname.com, machine3.domainname.com, ...
When you install a new machine you select its domain name (domainname.com) and its new name (machine2 for example), so its name is machine2.domainname.com

3.4.1 patched clients works fine with NetBackups DataCenter 4.5, but 4.5 clients are little more fast.
You can ask for this client to your Veritas provider.
Don´t forget to apply the last patches to your 3.4.1 patches.

I think johnny is in the rigth way. I haven´t work with Solaris, but I have tried to import tapes from one Linux server in one Windows 2000 Server, and it work OK. I did it with DataCenter 3.4.1
