My computer won't run 3D GAMES!

I know you may not be getting the loop error, but the information in the article from Via Arena has helped others with different issues as well. It's just a good all around check if your systems clean checklist really. AS a test try only one 256 RAM chip and see how that goes for awhile. I'd...

    Frame Rate

Try using 3DMark www.madonion.com . It can help bench your system and give you an idea how tweaks and upgrade to your system impact your video performance. Due to all of the variables, remember that benchmarks are good for ONLY compairing changes with your system no between systems.

My computer won't run 3D GAMES!

Although ME is not the best performing OS I don't think changing your OS is an easy answer here. It may fix your issues indirectly because you would be using different video drivers. FYI, XP Home would do just fine. I dought you need Pro anything. Win2K may work ok for gaming, but is not...

Can't print graphics to Windows 2000 shared printer

Hmm... not sure where else to go with this. I have at home an Epson served off a Windows 2000 computer. Three other computers print to it ok. Windows 98, ME and XP Home. Only other thing is check for disk space and maybe the spooler settings or re-create the spooler or re-direct the spooler...

    XP Home and Professional Difference

Oh one more thing... Since you own a Windows 98 CD all you need is XP upgrade. Not the full version. When you start installing Windows XP from scratch it will ask you to put the Windows 98 CD in for upgrade validation (this will not install 98). Then it will continue with the XP installed clean.

    XP Home and Professional Difference

Well... It means the OS will be compatable if the computer is good enough AND supported. It's not really about games. Games have their own requirements. I never recomend installing or upgradeing an OS over the top of another OS. It's always best to install the OS from scratch. Based on the...

Can't print graphics to Windows 2000 shared printer

If it's just XP then I think it might be the drivers? Did you get the XP drivers for the HP 4050? If not I would download them here...

    XP Home and Professional Difference

XP Pro is designed to operate on network domains. So if you don't have a domain at home (which most people don't) then you only need XP Home. XP Home will work with workgroups so you can have it on your home network and share resources. I work with XP Pro at work and I have XP Home for home...

Losing DSL when printing across network

Hmm, well if it came as a package then I guess thats just the way it comes. Sounds interesting though. Most providers will ask you how many computers you have that need internet access in your home or business then they will charge you for them. If you have a DSL/Cable Router with (DHCP) you...

Losing DSL when printing across network

Well... I can try to take a stab at it. You might need new drivers or firmware for the modem. Check here for your modem support. http://support.efficient.com/ The other thing is that you are setup with 5 static public IP addresses? Do they charge you for that? This could be causing...

What kind of printer is it? Make and Model? There could be a new driver or patch that you need to fix the bug.

I miss 3DFX... Long live GLIDE! Anyhow.... here is a place that hard cord 3dfx users go to get there drivers there are many 3rd party drivers that work well. I even found on for the Voodoo 5 5500 that works well with Windows XP. Several people have been releasing good drivers and keep them up...

Remove Export option for *.rpt using ActiveX viewer?

Jcrocker, thanks I will try that. Not quite the cleanest way but it will prevent them from exporting as an RPT file. SteveReminton, I asume taking that option off will remove the export ability all together. Good to know it's there but I still need the ability to export to PDF, DOC, and XLS...
