Hi,
Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this, but I am trying to upgrade our PC's on our network from 2K to XP Pro, and I am not able to get the unattended build to recognise that there are other drivers to copy from the server for the NIC and video card. I am using the OemPnPDriversPath =...
Does anyone know how to set up an AD policy (if it is possible) to allow installation of software from certain sites only? I have removed the user from the local admin group, and so installing software becomes impossible. However, we need to install Oracle JInitiator on demand from the web...
Just in case anyone is interested, I fixed the problem by recreating the cluster. The strange thing is that I deleted the cluster, restarted the server that was last one in the cluster and then recreated it. After this, I attempted to join the machine that was giving me problems in the first...
thanks for the response. You are correct, it looks a lot like this problem...however, I have already run the /forcecleanup on the node name that was removed. Also, I did do the eviction process on the server that does not want to join again....and an attempt to join the cluster brings the same...
I have 2 servers loaded with 2003 Enterprise. They are both connected to an Compaq MSA1000 Disk Array. Selective Storage has been correctly configured so that both servers can access the SAN one at a time.
I created a cluster on one of the servers, and joined the second server to the cluster...
I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but, can anyone help?

apologies that I never came back to this thread, been mental here...
The problem was in fact with a loose CPU or VRM, since we have replaced them, the problem has disappeared...
thanks for your input guys...
well, first of all thanks for the replies...
secondly...
the server has dual power supplies, and each power supply gets power from a different UPS and a different circuit...I thought about this, but there are 2 other boxes on the same config, they are cool...
the serber has dual 2.8GHz CPU's...
I have a strange problem that I experience with an IBM x235 server. The server randomly powers down. and then up again...there is no set pattern for this.
We have replaced almost the entire server now, including board, processors, VRM's, memory. We have also moved the disks with the RAID...
OMG...
It would appear that I am a moron. I just looked at the log again, and lo and behold, there it is, as bright as daylight. The bad stripe error...
Please pardon my stupidity, I am going back to my corner now...and planning the rebuild...
thanks anyway.
:)
Yeah, he tells me that the symptoms point to the bad stripe. I have checked the RAIDMAN logs myself and I don't see references to a problem with the stripe. It's strange, there is no error when it tries to rebuild off the failed disk once replaced. It just fails. I get the "Rebuilding...
I have an IBM server with a 6i controller which I use for a prod server...
A single RAID 5 stripe across 6 disks in an x235.
A couple of weeks ago I had a disk go defunct, so, duly replaced the disk, and the rebuild starts (HA HA) in ServeRAID manager the progress bar for the rebuild never gets...
Hello all.
I need to seek the advice of anyone who has attempted this before.
My FSMO role holder is going to have it's IP address changed when we move to another network medium. It is also a Primary DNS server for the domain. I want to seize all the relevant roles from this server to another...
Thanks for the post karmic, I managed to figure out why it was giving the access denied errors and resolved that, now, when running a DCPROMO is connects to another DC, starts transfers FSMO roles (dunno why because this server does not have any of the FSMO roles), tries to demote and then gives...
I have an issue with an AD DC that crashed last week, and the recovery from it has been somewhat messy.
We replaced the server with a new one, and because the server crashed, we obviously had no chance to run DCPROMO.
I went to the MS site and read up about this. Used NTDSUtil to remove the...
true...the lease happens long before any form of 2k authentication occurs...
I am just curious to see how I can effectivly cripple clients on my network that don't log on to the domain...
MAC Address restrictions won't work in this case because it's not specific MACS that I want to block...

I don't know if this is the right forum for this, it's kinda a hybrid 2k and network question...if not, apologies.
I want to know how to set the 2k DHCP server to restrict machines from leasing IP's if they are not authenticated by the dc...
is this possible?
Thanks in advance.
An interesting one...
I have a server that I have taken offline and it's data moved to a current live server. The current live server is Windows 2000 Server in an AD domain.
The server name that I was using on the offline server is still used by a lot of code written by our developers. So I...
I am trying to synchronise a Compaq iPAQ with a Microsoft Exchange server account via Bluetooth.
The connectivity is not a problem, I am able to establish a connection to RAS thru Bluetooth from my cell, but I keep getting connection errors when trying to sync the mail.
Do I have to sync with a...
Yes, log on to the local machine, remove the machine from the domain and log on to a local workgroup. The reboot, logon and change it back to the domain.
This is just the long way around. I was going to suggest this as first, but the NETDOM works a lot quicker. The syntax can be a bit tricky for...
