do you have open file backups enabled for this client?
If so, then that will be what is causign the problem.
Go into the host properties of the master server, look under clients and see if this client is listed. if it is, click on it, click on the open file tab and see if it is using vsp. if...
there are so many potential answers to this.
do you only have 2 tape drives?
are your storage units configured correctly?
in theory, there is no reason why the duplicate job starts, but just stays queued waitign for the backup to finish.
i take it that you have tested this when there are no...

how have you got your device set up? is it san attached or scsi? do you have any disk on the same bus?
what you have to be careful of, is making sure that any disk devices are on different bus to your tape drives, otherwise any scsi reset sent to a disk, will also go to your drive as well...
hi, a bit of a weird one here.
Got some system files under /var/tmp that have a prefix of D (not d to signal a directory).
if you run a file on them, it comes back as being a 'doorway to a remoted provider'.
these files are linked to a running process, but i have no idea what they are. Does...
check to make sure this is supported first. AS far as i was aware, Veritas were not being too helpful towards Legato, and as such, no testing was possible.

Hi,
i have been asked to do an upgrade of a master/media server from 3.4.1 to 4.5mp6. Is there anything that i need to be aware of?
I am running on solaris 7. Will the pkgrm strip out all of my policies as well?
Also, would you recommend staying at 4.5mp6, or moving on to version 5...

if you select the server install from the start, then that includes the storage node.
Server install includes, server, storage node and client
Storage node includes, client and storage node
client includes, just client

Hi,
the problem with tape speed issues is always going to be finding where the bottleneck is. With your particular set up, the first thing that has to change is the number of drives per hba. 4 DLT7000 drives on one hba would kill it, let alone LTO's.
Secondly, you need to establish the speed...
you didn't mention which o/s and if this server has been upgraded.
If you use solaris, and upgraded through version 6.0, seriously expect your media db to be corrupt. Cheers

find out what the hardware vendor says, and then follow the route it leads you down.
You could spend hours trying to troubleshoot it through reboots and resets, when it's probably telling you there is a problem with the robot.
If you still have the manual for the library, check it for sense key...
