I think as bcaster said if you were using the default administrator account most likely Windows XP during the install has overwritten the entire administrator profile folder if you were using another account previously created that shouldn't have happened.
I finally solved it. I remembered that I've installed an application yesterday called MediaXW (Name of the downloaded file MediaXW-0.0.6.msi) I uninstalled this application and the problem was fixed. To be sure that this was really the cause of the problem I went back on the website and I...
Thanks bcaster but the problem was not those Registry strings.

If you read the post that you find at the link above, you will see that I have a problem deleting or renaming most of the media file like .mpg .mp3 .avi and others. The...
...Name. Click "End Process".
Now you will only have the command prompt and the task manager. In the Command Prompt, DEL the offending files (DEL *.mpg, DEL mus*.avi, DEL test.wmv, etc.)
The files should now delete without a problem. Now go back to the task manager and click on the...
You won't believe this people. I've found out what is preventing me from writing in any way on mp3 files and other media files. I'm using Process Explorer from Sysinternals to observe the handles opened from the processes. I've got for example an mp3 file on the desktop and for some reason the...
I've just notice that I can't delete or rename most of the media files :wav; avi etc. I need to fix this problem. I can delete or rename these files if I use another windows like an ERD commander or any limited windows version bootable from CdROM.

Hi everybody,
I've got a problem that I couldn't fix yet. Very strangely when I try to erase or rename any MP3 file I can't do it. Windows tell me that the file is being used by another person or program. I checked and terminated all the processes and I booted in safe mode without any help...
Hi everybody,
I'm trying to upgrade a windows NT 4.0 Server SP6a to a Windows 2003 Server. I'm doing that on a test conputer that doens't have the same hardware. When I boot from a windows 2003 server Cd-rom I only get the option to install the New operating system separetetly from NT and I...
Should I disable it from Device Manager or you mean in a physically through the motherboard. If the second one that wouldn't be easy since I haven't got a manual for the motherboard.
I agree windows boot.ini will still do the job as far as the installation of the two XP are made with the other disk disconnected. Eache XP you are booting will appear as C: and the non loaded XP will be given the next available letter. The boot.ini NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM that will be used will...

It worked man!! Thanks a lot. I really appreciated it. Well done. At the normal reboot after I have done that on the safe mode it recognized the device and installed it without prompting me for any action.
Thanks again.
I'm experience a problem with my new "Via OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller" PCMCIA Card Bus which is supposed to work under all the version of Windows. Anyway the adapter should be installed by plug&play automatically without having to supply any additional driver. When I insert the card...
I don't think that's the problem. I removed the driver and reinstalled the same driver because that's the generic one most of the time used with windows. Standard 101/102 or Microsoft PS/2 Keyboard. 90% if you check on your computer you'll see the same driver. Anyway Microsoft AutoDetect the...
