Hi everybody.
Does anybody know how to fix this problem on windows 2000? I tried to reinstall the keyboard driver bu it did't help. When I click on the input locales tab on the keyboard icon in control panel, instead of having the option to change the layout of the keyboard what I get it's a gray pane with the following message on the bottom.

Thank you for your help.

What happened here is that you didn't reinstall the same keyboard driver, but you reverted the driver by installing the old driver.

The solution is to find which driver is the new one and install that one.

I don't think that's the problem. I removed the driver and reinstalled the same driver because that's the generic one most of the time used with windows. Standard 101/102 or Microsoft PS/2 Keyboard. 90% if you check on your computer you'll see the same driver. Anyway Microsoft AutoDetect the driver and I'm sure is the right one. I think the problem has a different source.

The current driver version is version 5.0.2183.1 for the standard keyboard (101/102 or Microsoft PS/2).

The explanations are that there are two drivers of different versions installed simultaneously, the driver corrupted, or there is an outdated driver, or the permissions to change keyboard settings were turned off against you. The third is the obvious explanation; and I am sure there are others.

Microsoft Autodetect doesn't always detect the right driver. I found this out while installing a TWAIN scanner driver before. The best way is to install it directly from an installer.

Try

they may have the current driver; or Google it.

Yes, I did assume that it was standard by the fact that this wasn't specified in your post.
