You need another file c alled netdrive.exe executing right after netx. After netdrive executes, f:\login should pop up. From there, just type in login and hit enter. You know what to do from there....
Upgrading from NetWare 4.x to 5.x is not a basic question of patches. You must purchase NtWare 5.1 and MIGRATE to it by running the install and using the upgrade option instead of new server. Not only must you buy the new version, but you also need to buy user licenses equivalent to the number...
Is this server in its own tree, or part of another one? If it is a part of another one, then time syncronization may be an issue. When a server boots up as part of a tree, it must time synch before DS loads. I've found this to be true in my own tree of 14 servers.
If there is excess traffic...
I know about the netware version- others are similar; Go into the backup client console, choose the Commands menu. Select restore- pick the items to restore the same as you would pick the items to back up. Follow the prompts.
download a copy on wnsyscon from one of the many netware resource sites. With it, you can print out everything you never wanted to know abot any user, group or server itself that you are currently logged into.
I ran into this several times before. What I did, and it makes no sense at all why this works, was to leave the drive blank. Netware says you have to have one, and puts you back at installation screen. At this point, give it the driver. This has happened to me on 4 separate servers. Three...
I've tried both hardware and software compression. I've also frogged around with block sizes on the tape (partition configuration). Changing the block size to 4096 got it to backup 15.6GB, but it still asks for the second tape. I can't believe that this is filling up a 24GB tape. :-(
License information can't be backed up under NW5.1- If you need to restore your server, you must reinstall the licenses using either NWCONFIG or Console One. ;-)
Hardware Compression is enabled, and we are using the HP DDS-3 24GB DAT Carts.
On another server, I am using the same software, but with a quantum DLT 4000 (20GB /40 compressed). It asks for a second tape at the 15GB mark.
Hello,
I had the same dilema with 200 macs in our school district. What works pretty well is the mac client which came with NW4. It can be installed directly from a NW4 CD. Also, there was a novell update to it just before they abandoned mac. What must be remembered is, you still need...
Hi, I'm the network administrator for a school district, and we are currently using a windows security program called Fortres to lock down our workstations with great sucess. Fortress alows users acess only to shortcuts that are placed on the desktop, and disallows acess to anything that you...
I am using Netware 5.1, and Backup Exec 8.5 on a Compaq ProLiant ML350 w/1GB Ram, and 57GB of RAID 5 volume. I have an internal HP 12/24 DAT drive using the Compaq 53C876 controller.
I currently have about 16GB in actual use on the volume.
Invariably, when I have more than 10.5 GB in use...
