Retire your userid and create a new one that is complex / complicated and do the same with your password. You should have an admin user ( assuming you are the admin)and a seperqate regular user, don't use your admin user for anything except server maintanace, use your regular user with "user"...
Hi all,
I have 6 win98 machines in a remote office that are renewing leases every 7 (not my decision I would use 30 days) days. When they do this they get a mask of 255.0.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0 . I can release and renew and it makes no difference. I have 9 other machines in same...

I run a script at startup that looks on the machine for various software. ( IM's and rouge e-mail progs) if the script finds the executable on the c: then it deletes it. Then the script creates a text file with the users name as the title. At this point the text files are turned over to the...
some backup software will delete files after the file is backed up, if the option is set. ARCServe 6.5 will do this.
Be careful not to use this option when doing a full backup.
write a job just to backup those files and this should remove them.
Good luck
go to usermanager
double click the user name
go to the "logon" tab
put the name of the workstation in the blank and the next time the user logs in he will be limited to the workstation that was specified, If he tries to log in somewhere else he will receive a warning and not be...
My apologies, I meant no harm or to offend anybody
Although this is not the forum for this, our workstations never go off, they have been on for over 24 months.(we use a scheduler to clear the ram and temp files every night @ 2am) MSN is deleted by a network crawler along with AOLIM, ICQ, bonzi...
I also won't allow webshots. Unfortunately almost all users who have it say it makes for a nicer desktop. Tell them to use it at home where they can decorate with there own money and time not the stockholders.

83 hours at $25.00 an hour =...

Is there a way of getting the logon history of a user from the pdc?
I had to make an emergency delete of the the event log about 3 months ago and now the unit VP is looking for the logon history of a particular user. Please Help
Hi all,
I had the same problem. I put a small batch file in the allusers startup directory on the client that points to a file on the server. The file on the client never changes. The file on the server is actually the logon script and you need only make one change at the server.
We had the same problem. I fixed it by the following:
Spool on the server, set the client to print directly to printer.
Disable bi-directional printing
set print share (on server) to print after last page is spooled
and lastly
set all print shares (on server) to print spooled jobs first. (...
I am an admin of 450 users, if it goes on any of the servers under my control then I have access to it. If a user wants to hide something then guess what, as with everything else in this world you "HIDE" things because you are being a sneak. My user policies don't allow...
I'm not sure if this is normal, but all 425 of my users log 1000's of these everyday. Every resource that a user accesses on the server will gernerate two of these messages, one logon one logoff.
