Symantec is a very demanding application. We currently use webroot for both nav and spyware. It is a lot less taxing on the machines and picks up a lot more then Symantec's scan. We were a complete Symantec shop and we got hit with a virus that they were not helpful with. You are right that...
I am not saying remove it indefinitly, this was to add to what Trana was saying. This will confirm that there is an issue with your suite. Symantec is a very demanding antivirus on many machines. If it runs that bad on your machine. Look at other antivirus solutions.
We have the sysprep run and pull the image from the NIC card. That way no one forgets to run any type of sid changing application.
Changing the SID while they are joined to the domain will cause an issue. you would need to remove them from the domain and then run sysprep.
Just looking for some other thoughts on an issue I am having with a webmail for Comcast. The user used to be able to select all e-mails and then delete them He can only delete the e-mail after opening it. I deleted Java and Active X plugins and reconnected them. Still the issue stays. I had...
We have been through many vendors that have been really trying to sell us clients that run like firewalls. Does anyone have any information on managing the firewall that comes with the XP SP2? Any infomration, either with policies or the answer of no will suffice. I have not seen anything but...
Is this during startup or is there a custom scan that U use. There are customization settings to ignore the A drive and only selecting the drives that U want.
VOP,
I always delete the internet Cache as well as the temp filed and Internet Temp files. The common registry entries are also deleted. I will try the trojan cleaner as you suggested. Thank you for the response. This was much appreciated.
Carr,
We do not have any XP machines as of yet. I am aware of the XP restore. Thank you for the response.
Jbrackett,
I will look into the Killbox app. Thank you.
We have had a rash of these downloader trojans that has been hitting our company. We have managed NAV but it only sees it as a downloader trojan. They keep coming back! I have used Bazooka, Adaware, Spybot and seek&Destroy. They still seem to come back. I am asking if there are tools that other...
There is no patches that I know of. There is a new version of Symanted that is coming out or is to be released. 9.0
Did you look at their tech knowledge base for you particular issue?
Thank you for the response. My area in NJ has not gotten re-infected. Our NY counterparts must be full of it. I just wanted t make sure that no one else had this problem. Thank again for the comments.
Has anyone had the problem with the welchir virus reinfecting their machine after the patches have been put in place. I am aware of the new patch that Microsoft posted. We have technicians that are stating that the machines are being reinfedted after NAV is reinstalled after the patch is...
Boed,
we have the same problem with the managed 8.1 version clients. What service pack are you using? If you click on the NAV in the start/programs/NAV client under the view, under the file system ( first selection) it will give you the status. It should still show that it communicates with your...
Thank you. We are in the middle of implementing Active Directory. I will look into it though. For now I am looking to setup a policy locally on machines till the upgrade goes into effect.
