Thanks for the response. My only reservation with this approach is I would need to set up each user on the PC. This is basically a training room so my plan was to have the usb hard drive connected to a PC in a locked office, (so no one can pick it up and walk away), and just set up the folders...
I thought this was going to be something simple but maybe I'm just doing something stupid. I have a client with a PC running XP Pro, and connected to a number of other PC's in a workgroup.
The main PC has a 1Tb usb hard drive attached, and what I was planning to do was create and share a Users...
I have a client looking to implement 3 monitors on all the PC's in the organisation. Each PC should have a single desktop spread across all monitors, so the user can determine the layout. I know the quad graphics card will do this but the number of machines involved makes that a very expensive...
This is wrecking my head so I really need help.
I have a client who called me with problems on their PC running W2K Pro. This PC contains a business critical application which cannot be easily re-installed, ( for a number of reasons that we won;t go into here!!!).
Anyhow, I decided the best...
Hi all,
I'm not an expert on this type of thing but I'm wondering if this is possible and/or already being done.
I have a few clients, (very small businesses), who want to be able to manage web-browsing by their staff. Obviously one option is to install a proxy server on site and route all...
Sounds good. They're going to ditch the server and replace it with a workgroup, but one of the PC's in the workgroup will host the data and be accessed by the others. Less complex and easier for backups etc. They're a small business, (financial services), and their not planning to recruit more...
I'm not too hot on exchange so I'm hoping to get a response telling me this is really easy but we'll see.
I have a client who has 4 PC's and a single server they've had for about 3 years, (W2K Server with exchange). They're upgrading the PC's and the question came up about whether they should...
Thanks for the response. The dodgy memory occurred to me but I would have expected somedthing in the logs for that. I'll try out your suggestiosn though and let you know how i get on.
I know this could be caused by a million and one things but I'm really stumped so any help would be appreciated.
I have a new client running W2K server, as a PDC/file/print/mail & backup server. (It's only in 18 mths so why they haven't got SBS is beyond me). This is running on a compaq ml380...
I'm putting in a wireless network for a client, and using an SMC barricade (SMC2804WBR), which acts as a f/w and internal switch. normally I would install this with SMC PCI cards and PCMCIA for laptops, but in this situation he already has a load of Netgear PCI cards he wants to use. all are...
I've no problem getting to other ms sites. It's satellite broadband connection so there are some latency issues. maybe its just timeing out before it establishes the connection

This is probably something really simple, but I'm kind of stuck so here goes...
I've just installed an SMC Barricade and 2 SMC2802 PCI wireless network cards. Both PC's are running windows xp home edition, and both cards installed and configured correctly. The workgroup is set up and...
Kept trying and found the line in txtsetup.sif changes every time. Also got a bit further once when it got as far as hanging when it was installing usb keyboard files. Seems to be completely random. I'll keep plugging away anyway
