Ummm... You can also right click on My Computer then read
the System information tab that pops up. The service pack
info shows up right under the winders version info.

This may sound dumb but I had the same problem at my job
site which has over 15000 PC's running Win2k Pro...
After we installed the SP4 update a bunch of the machines
had the problem of taking 25-30 minutes to get past the
'Applying Security Policy' dialog box and here's how I
fixed it...
Boot...
I have a possible solution for this... I ran into this
problem where I work (15000 pc's running Win2k Pro) and
after we applies SP4, some of the machines stalled at the
'Applying Security Policy' screen. Here's how I fixed it
on those machines....
Power off PC.
Reboot in safe mode.
Reboot PC...
I'm actually a grizzled old DOS user but I actually didn't think it would work. But as a last resort I tried it and it
did to my amazement.
Heck, I had no choice. A friend told me he could write a
routine in C++ in about 5 minutes that would do what I
wanted it too but it's been several weeks...
ALT255:
You sure used a lot of words to say pretty much nothing. lol
The monitor will be sitting on it's BACK facing upwards.
I need the application I'm running to be viewed in full
page mode. That is it. You shouldn't need more info than
that.
Tilting ones head or turning the monitor on...
I need a small app that will rotate the windows desktop
90 degrees. Seems fairly simple but I can't seem to
find a way to do this. I want to be able to run apps
without them reorienting the screen back to normal.
Any help?

Yeah, you're gonna kick yourself when you read this one...
You know how you put the '@' in front of the echo off?
Well put that '@' sign in front of every line and nothing
will show up. Only the flashing cursor. Seemed to work on
my end. Even if you put it in front of a file name.

Hey, I happen to need an app that does the same thing.
My problem is I don't really know how to use VB6 well
enough to substitute my own file names.
Can anyone help? Maybe annotate where I insert my file
names or maybe something with a user-modifiable INI?
I could probably bumble my way...
I have a computer running win 98 that I need to do one
specific task.
I need the computer to boot to windows, Start an application, then when the application ends I need it to
start another application.
This isn't just a matter of placing them into the startup
folder. I need the second...
I've had this problem before. It was caused by me disabling
the ACPI power management in the motherboard Bios.
This is what Windows uses to actually turn the computer off
when you select the shut-down option. On my particular
machine I would get a black screen with a cursor flashing in
the top...
Hi there,
I am trying to find a VB routing that will execute one
application in windows (of my choice) then execute another one when the first one is closed.
Basically what I want is a computer that will only run one program. I want this program to launch automatically when
windows starts...
If you're referring to the DOSSTART.BAT file, then that
is not the problem. I'm not exactly sure by what you mean
by saying delete the 'exit to dos file'.
Somehow I doubt that if I did a search I would not find
a file of that name.

I need some help... Whenever I reinstall Windows 98se
and download the updates from the Microsoft site, the
system stops Restarting in MS DOS mode when selected from
the Shut Down menu. Prior to the IE updates it worked fine.
I have had this problem on several machines.
So my question is, can...
...front end for MAME arcade box I am
making. How can I make IE open files with my HTML front
end without it asking if I want to open or save it?
* PLEASE DON'T REPLY SAYING TO UNCHECK THE BOX! *
Windows help says this can't be done if you are trying to
open an .EXE, .COM or .BAT file. It DOES...
I wasn't yelling, obviously. I was simply typing in caps
to get your attention since like I said, I was VERY
specific in my first post and you replied as if you didn't
even read it at all.
I had already tried the security option (which didn't work)
and I also tried your reg edit, which also...
Oh, and Opcode, you said :
"with this changes it will open the files, but this is not very easy and i don't know if it works for IE 5.5 and IE 6.0. I know only that it was possible with IE 5.0"
What changes?
I tried the ones posted by reghakr but the values he told
me to change...
I apologize if I seemed upset but I have asked this same
question before. Being VERY specific as to what I wanted
and people replied as if I was some sort of moron who
never noticed the check box. I did not just blindly post
a stupid question that I had not tried to look into at least
a little...
...my post?
I said WHEN YOU CLICK ON AN EXE, COM, OR BAT FILE
IN IE IT ALWAYS ASKS!!! YOU CANNOT UNCHECK THE BOX
BECAUSE IT IS GREYED OUT!! IT IS *NOT* AN OPTION!!!
IT ONLY DOES THIS WITH ZIP AND OTHER FILE EXTENSIONS!!
NOT WITH EXE, COM OR BAT FILES!!!
TRY IT YOURSELF AND LOOK!! YOU CANNOT...
