Hanging at shutdown Win 98

I've had this problem before. It was caused by me disabling
the ACPI power management in the motherboard Bios.
This is what Windows uses to actually turn the computer off
when you select the shut-down option. On my particular
machine I would get a black screen with a cursor flashing in
the top left corner. But on other machines it would just
show the "preparing to shut down.." screen and hang there.
Turning the ACPI back on usually fixed this problem.
But it could be something else. Worth a try though.
