You may be able to set the cursor to the server instead of the client. This would cause the update to run on the server.

Try using a record set .open method instead of the execute. I am not sure but I don't think you have full control of the recordset when you use the execute method of the connection object. Just a guess??

Have you checked the "Client Network Utility" config on the server this is running on? Make sure you can connect with the "SQL query anaylzer" from the server? If the database is on the same machine as the web server you may want to use...

I know this type of information exchange is normally facilitated using XML. The data is streamed from the vendor in XML then a XSL style sheet is applied to the data which creates the actual web site. I have not used the XSL stuff yet but I have written a number of scripts to convert the data...

I would think that the easiest way to perform this is to do away with the loop and use the following to produce the recordset of categories.
"SELECT * FROM tblCategories WHERE CategoryID IN( " & stID & ")"

All depends. Do you want to find the loading time or the processing time?
Most likely what you are looking for is the processing time of the script. This is easily done with the timer function. You will have to Dim a variable and set it equal to the current value from the Timer() function...

The best way which I can think of is to zip up the data and FTP or use HTTP xfer to the other site and unzip the data. You can easily write a VB DLL or EXE to do this using WININET library.
