smah,
Thank was it!!
I found the settings in Norton Personal Firewall to allow access by the other 2 PC's. Now this router (Siemens 2604 4port)says there is a built-in firewall. Should I trust just that or install Norton on the other 2 units for added security?
Thanks again
I have 3 PC's running through a router (finally and thanks to your help) and a cable modem for the internet. I have a fax program on all 3 that needs to ping PC 1 to access it's dial-up modem to send and receive faxes only (Not internet). PC 1 can ping the addresses of itself and the other 2...
I finally got the 3rd computer connected (file, print & internet). What I had to do was go into the NIC properties (in network settings) and manually change from 100baseT to 10baseT. I didn't know I could do that and aparently with my setup, 100baseT was an issue.
I want to thank all of you...

What I mean is that the problem PC won't connect to anything plugged into the router. It won't see files or connect to the internet on either of the 2 PC's that are working correctly.
The problem PC does ping itself with 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.254.4.
The workgroup name is the same on all 3...
OK this is getting really weird. I may be ready to just go out and purchase all new PC's.
All 3 units have Client for MS Networks installed. Now here's the wacky part. The PC I am on now is one of the connected units. I can ping the other connected unit and the router but he cannot ping my...
OK here's the latest. My wall socket wires were crossed on a problem PC, I reconnected the wires straight through. Plugged the problem PC direct into the router (a Siemens 2604 4 port), reset and configured the PC to assign an address automatically. The 100baseT light lights up and the router...
OK here's the latest. My wall socket was crossed, I reconnected straight through. Plugged the problem PC direct into the router, reset and configured to assign an address automatically. The 100baseT light still lights up but the router gave the PC an IP address 192.168.254.4 the other 2 PC's...
To smah - I inadvertantly posted the same message twice. Therefore the same thread. Sorry.
To bike1100 - I have a Siemens ss2604 model router. The port that the hub is in has an uplink switch for crossover. When the hub is connected I have to switch that port to crossover (the only way that...
It's not a proxy server. One of the other 2 units that are running was a proxy server but I have all proxy settings disabled. Was running Winproxy.
It will take some doing to use another cable as they are run through the walls. I will try that and get back to you guys.
Thanks again
How do I tell what type of cable is run? The router has an an uplink port designated on the first port with a manual switch (button) to switch to uplink. The hub is in that port now and swithced to uplink. I will check the specs for built-in multi port switch.
Thanks for the quick response. The NIC is an internal card, I do have another card but how do I turn the NIC down to 10Mbps? It's a Siemens 4 port speedstream router.
I tried to manually assign that computer an address but it still wouldn't see the other 2 units. The IP address ranges are...

I have 2 computers & cabel modem connected to a router and the only way I could get the 3 computer with 100baseT to see the others was to go through a hub and connect to the router uplink. The first 2 units on the router can connect to the internet but the one on the hub won't.
Any suggestions...
