Used to, with Winzip (before they started charging for it) you could embed a password in the zip file. There are other applications that will do that, of course, but you would have to DL their software.
Too bad MS doesn't offer this password feature built into it's zip compression tool on XP.
Thanks. I ended up creating the second connection and it worked just fine. I'm just used to doing things in vb.6 and I'm still very wet behind the ears on vb.net.
You are correct in saying that I could have done it w/ a serverside SQL statement. It's just a one-time program and I needed the...
I hope this is the correct forum. I need to encrypt files that I want to Email to certain users. I run XP Pro and the users run XP Home. Is there some way to encrypt the file so that the user will not have to DL any additional software?
In my code (see sample below) I have a connection to a DB and have opened a datareader on that connection. But within the datareader I need to execute SQL statements. When I try to do this I get the error message "there is already an open datareader associated with this connection which must...
I am running PSQL v8.6 and I am trying to update values in one database based on the results of a SQL statement. My SQL is shown below but when I try to run it I get an "syntax error" message (indicates the error is between the last two parenthesis).
Can someone please help me on this one...
Thanks for the useful information. I've searched the web over but haven't found a solution. It's a relatively new server so I guess I'll rebuild it. I'm too cheap to pay $500 for software that I'll probably only use once.
Thanks again!
I have a 160GB drive and I erroneously created an 8GB primary partition (I meant it to be 80GB). Is there an easy way to extend this partition without having to reformat the drive? I tried DISKPART but got the error "The volume you have selected may not be extended". I've also looked at...
I think I could, but when the computer starts up the Netgear wirelss mamager won't load. It will attempt to load but hangs if the user is not an administrator. I actually have to terminate the process when I try to log off or shut down.
I have installed a Netgear wireless-N router but I'm having a problem with the software. I'm running it on an XP pro machine and it will not work unless the user is an administrator. I cannot make the user an administrator but I need the wireless access. I've searched the internet but I...
OK, I bit more information. On my XPH computer (named HOME) I am running Comodo Firewall. I added a rule allowing traffic to go in and out if were part of the 192.128.1.xxx network. This has at least gotten me one step closer.
I can now see the shared resources on the HOME (XPH) computer...
OK, so I've made them members of the same workgroup/domain (let's call it the SHINOLA workgroup/domain on XPH/XPP respectively). My XPH machine is called "HOME" (no surprise there) and my XPP laptop is called "LAPTOP".
LAPTOP computer
When I go to Explorer, expand Microsoft Windows Network...
I'm having the laptop FexEx'd to me so I can look at it on Monday. Something funky is going on with this laptop and I've got to get to the bottom of it. I'll post an update on Monday.
Yes, I am in a domain environment, and I am a domain admin. No, I did not check the "list in active directory" checkbox, but I do not normally do this (and I can still print over domain). Anyway, other issues have presented themselves which broaden the scope of this beyond just printers.
Now...
Yes. I cannot even browse \\laptopname\c$ (it says that the network resource cannot be found). One other note - when I am on the laptop and try to browse the network via Explorer, I get the following error message (note the second paragraph - I don't know if it applies):
"<network> is not...
I have a laptop that is running XPP SP 2 and I can't see the shared printer I have setup. I can ping the machine, I can access and control the laptop via a VNC connection, and I've scanned the laptop with Adaware, Spybot and MS Defender (nothing found). I have shared the printer and I can...
I just had a thought - on my laptop (XPP) I belong to the JUSTWORK domain. Do I need to change the name of my XPH workgroup to JUSTWORK? Do they need to be the same?
I have a PC at home that is running XP Home, and I have enabled file and printer sharing, and use the Network Setup utility to set up a workgroup called MSHOME, but I still cannot browse this workgroup from my laptop (which is running XP Pro).
On the XPH machine I have shared a couple of...
