Thanks combo
I have tried this previously but just for what I want I'm not sure about it.
But thanks for the suggestion and making a contribution to my knowledge - I had not seen the help article previously.

Hi Mike
Yes it certainly is worth keeping upto date on these things.
At the moment I am trying out 'AllMyNotes Organiser'. I like the way it emulates Windows Explorer and ease of identification of topics. I'm going to try 'NotesKeeper' next
When I try to access the 'Google Keep' my Browser...
Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm now spoilt for choice!
My needs are small i.e. I only need about 50 records - so I will evaluate over the next week or so
Cheers
Chris
Thanks Rick998 Mike Lewis
I will give both of these a look. Something simple is what I need (to keep info on builders, plumbers, electricians etc)
Cheers
Chris
Thanks mintjulep for quick response.
I'm just looking for an app that I can store names; telephone; area of work/expertise etc - very similar to an address book. In fact I suppose a simple address book app would suffice. I'm not interested in it being store in the cloud, just on my desktop...
Hi
Some time ago I used Microsoft Cardfile to store short/small pieces of data in a simple manner. I found it straightforward to use and miss having it available.
Does anyone know if this would still work with Win 10 and if so any idea where I could perhaps obtain a copy. I know it was shipped...
Thanks to all of you who have responded to my query.
I am not confident enough to download and install previous drivers for my audio chipset. I have sat back and pondered the issue from another perspective and found a workaround.
Instead of using ‘Stereo Mix’ I have set Audacity to record...
I have previously used Audacity to record streaming audio. After some time I have attempted to try this again, however when I set it to record I get feedback. I have tried amending the settings but Stereo Mix is missing.
In older incarnations of Audacity I was able to fix this by using ‘Stereo...

Of course, it is awhile since visiting TT, having retired 11 years ago, but that should not have stopped me from being courteous and recognising the help my fellow TT'ers have given me.
Hopefully remedied now.
Best wishes to all

Thanks Rick 998 and goombawaho
I have resolved my issue by going into 'Disk Management'. There I found that the HDD in question had a partition which was unallocated. I therefore went through the process of allocating that space and hey presto I have a working partition. I can live with that. [I...
Hi Rick998 Thanks for the link. Have tried it but to no avail. Even using that GUI the HDD still stubbornly remains at 32GB
I think, as it is a couple of years old I will let it pass on to the HDD scrap yard
Thanks
Chris
Hi hoping someone maybe able to help.
I have a SEAGATE Freeagent external HDD which is supposed to be 500GB. However, in the past, it has been formatted in such a way that it only returns 32GB. Every time I try to reformat it, I can get nothing other than 32GB.
Not sure what I’ve done in the...
Thanks all. Yes I am looking at home backups and very much appreciate all the comments made. I had heard of Veeam previously but had assumed it was not for home use. I will evaluate that as I have a large amount of docs/spr’s/video and images which would be too large for One Drive which I...
Thanks
Salem -
I've learnt one thing from this post - "There's more to backups than meets the eye". But I know from being a member of Tek-Tips that someone can help or point one in the right direction.
My wants are relatively simple or that's what I thought.
I just want to automate backing up...
Hi all
I'm looking for some backup software, either paid for or free/open source. I have looked through the FAQ's but all results seem to be very old.
Does anybody have recommendations for an easy to use version of an up-to-date system?
Any help appreciated
Thanks in advance
Chris
Hi
Thanks for these suggestions. It's only a matter of me wanting to sort my folders/files into a more logical order by being able to view a number of folders in various places (Explorer view 1;2; and/or 3) at the same time and sorting/moving them to a new more logical location (Explorer view...
Hi. Does anyone know of a stable alternative to Windows 10 File Explorer? I'm looking for something that will allow me to view up to 4 'windows' at once. I appreciate that Win 10 File Explorer can be opened to provide this but I was hoping to find an alternative that would open up to 4 at once...
Thanks combo
I do remember way back using the worksheet protection before ... but that was a long time ago.
This has been a very helpful reminder - appreciated
I think for what I want to achieve this will work very well
Thanks again
Voisey
Hi
I have an question relating to Excel protection. I know that I can set a password to OPEN and a separate password to EDIT. However is there a way to prevent recipients from opening as read only (they will have been provided with the password to open only) and then saving locally as a separate...
