I'm curious. What do you want to accomplish by taking the Norstar out of the mix? I get that you want new phones, but is there a reason for that? As curlycord said, you'll lose quite a bit of functionality when you disconnect it. You have T7316E phones, you could clean them, replace the cards...
Okay, well, we just found out that you have a system with a CID card in it, which means it's likely either a MICS or CICS.

Head there, look at the photos and tell us what system looks exactly like what you saw hanging on the wall.
Sue, you can find out what system you have pretty easily. Go find it in the closet, it's hanging on a wall somewhere. It'll say Northern Telecom / Nortel / Meridian / Norstar on the front of it. Once you find this box, you'll be able to understand by looking at it what system you have, if you...
No need to live without it, once you figure out what system you have, it really is something you can do in about ten key-presses. The programming manual will get you there though.
Sue, the button isn't what matters. As Firebird and Curlycord mentioned, the programming is what does the job, whether the green button is on your M7310 or not, if it's not enabled, it wont work.
Figure out what system you have and read up on the programming manuals here...
Curious,
Does anyone know where to get a copy of Cinphony? I have a NAM, it has a white HASP dongle hanging out of the parallel port. I have never used it before, and it will likely need to have its HDD replaced and the NAM reimaged. Having never used anything more than a Flash on a Norstar...
When are you trying **73639[MAC]## (2 for A/B/C, 3 for D/E/F)? I usually start punching that in repeatedly as soon as the Nortel logo or the Avaya text shows up on the screen. I have also occasionally had success repeatedly smashing the services button BEFORE the firmware loads to get to a point...
I'm still installing Nortel on occasion. Just a couple months ago I installed a BCM 50 and a mixture of 1140E and T7316's for someone.
I presented them with a few different options, Hosted IP, 3CX/Asterisk, Norstar and BCM. They are a fledgling construction company and the owner is very SaaS...
Fingers crossed!
It would be a wise idea to clone the HDD inside the BCM over to an SSD before you put the system back into production. (see the FAQ) After you do this, the BCM will be reliable for the long-haul, and you'll have a backup set of system software if anything goes wrong with the...
exsmogger,
I got your message in the other thread, I'll post the response here though.
My router is a Dell Server running VMWare ESXi 7, a VM running pfSense is acting as the router for this network, with one port mapped directly to a physical port on the host, connected to the ONT at the...

I have the Verified Caller ID problem as well, and am also on a BCM 50 R6 with Flowroute Trunks.
As I've learned, Verified Caller ID is part of STIR/SHAKEN and was a regulatory mandate. When I approached Flowroute about this issue, they told me they could not - and would not turn off...
While I agree that it's most likely to be the HDD, if you want to do some other testing, here's what I'd do before ruling it as a hardware problem:
Boot the machine to a Memtest86 diskette/USB stick/CD/whatever and let it do a few passes of the memory that's in the box. Have you considered...
Awesome! I didn't know about the screened calls setting and will definitely check that out. For now, the user has programmed a F85 key on their set.
Thanks for the tip, Curlycord!
I gave a friend a BCM50 r6, programmed a target line and his phone rings directly. Works a treat.
We have a Mitel system at work that, while otherwise complete garbage, will allow you to reject a call and send it directly to VM and are looking to recreate that.
So: Phone rings, push a button...
Curlycord: Thanks for the link! I'm going to dig into that and really try to wrap my head around the document.
exsmogger: All good information, I've gone ahead and disabled NAT Compensation & Media Relay for now. I also changed over to "From header proxy address match" It's good to know that...
Well, I'm not a telco guy, but a sysadmin. Phones are definitely not my specialty, I had to piece this together by reading the manual and as many forum posts as I could. Have I gone about setting up my Dest/Route/Plan programming up in the worst possible way? what exactly, if you don't mind me...
Brian,
Thanks for doing that! There are indeed quite a few differences. I mirrored your SIP settings, changed every option one at a time and the issue remains.
For now I'll use the silence option for MOH, I think I'm going to ask around and see if anyone has a blank, unconfigured R6 image that...
