VNC is *very* resource intensive - a lot of memory and even more CPU and most front of house terms have little of both. I only remote into the FOH for technical urgencies so I can't say if it's normal for the FOH to have difficulties or not. You might check the windows events logs on the FOH...
Unless they upgraded from 6.1 to 6.5 then the change to the file structure is likely the culprit (just logically) but why on earth they'd change the directory structure... Some thoughts;
When the directory structure was changed was aloha de-registered and re-registered on the server?
Does the...
Log in with the BOH to the FOH - can you clarify? Do you mean you are accessing that terminal via VNC or just browsing files on the terminal in Windows explorer? What are you trying to accomplish with this task?
@eburks it is true OPOS names are case sensitive. I vaguely remember some issue where I had to see what their name was in the registry and not just rely on the epson opos program but I don't recall any details. The reg key is HKLM\Software\OLEforRetail\serviceOPOS
don't know if I can work on...
thanks coorsman, did all that and more - the difference is I am using an IP printer so it's on an epson IP port and I am using the StandardE drawer driver (for ethernet). I'm unsure about using that driver but trying it with the standard driver returned errors.
As I said I have to re-do the...
Not working yet. Followed the instructions carefully - the cash drawer fires fine from the epson utility and the OPOS setup returns no errors and aloha shows no errors but Aloha stubbornly refuses to open the cash drawer. I haven't checked the OPOS logs yet plus there are a lot of places where...
thanks coorsman - following them now they excellent overall only issue they're for 2.5 opos current is 2.7 install screen has many optional components for Epson CO. If I get things working I'll post my install steps
do you mean you think he is tampering with the software directly and changing sales data after it's recorded? that is supposed to be impossible but I know for a fact it can be done but there are much easier ways to cheat... if you're a bit more specific maybe I can give you some ideas? also...
let us know if you fix it, and the solution? I'm with coorsman on this it's likely user/service/permissions - your edc service needs to be running as the same user the FOH is using to log in with and that user needs full read/write permissions on the folder *and* share on the BOH. And make...
7.0 has been in "beta" stage for at least a year. As I understand it they're doing a complete code re-write, which was needed since Aloha 6.x is basically the same code from 5.x which is the same code they bought from ibertech in ... 99? I'm exaggerating, but only a little.
I have a copy of...
Aloha relies so heavily on netbios and netbios does not work properly across subdomains... take a look at this post (just found it with a quick google) for a bit of information.
Setting up a vpn tunnel is something I was going to try for a somewhat similar problem but I came up with a better...
pmegan (n TobeThor) funny we have such different experiences. I only support 4 full kitchens and a total of 11 bars and clubs so it sounds like pmegan has a broader range of experience - however I have to say again I've replaced a kitchen printer ... twice (?) in 8 years (epson tm 88 IV and V...
strongly agree, unless you have a problem with heat a TM88 thermal is a much better kitchen printer than an impact printer. I have them in numerous kitches and they run for years with piles of grease and bits of chicken bone covering them. Once I had to replace an ethernet cable and couldn't...
one scenario:
Going into frequent spooldown can indicate a problem with network configuration and infrastructure, not recovering from spooldown sometimes indicates a problem with permissions / rights.
1) Permissions - do all the terms have full read/write access to the file server and vice...
Worked on this for a while and am at a loss. Has anyone configured Aloha to open cash drawers from an ethernet-connected receipt printer?
I've tried various configurations to get the drawers to fire from the cash drawer port of the tcp/ip Epson TM88 printers.
- "traditional" windows...
@jim1941 - the encrypted mag readers are marketed as 'payment guard msr' appear to only work with the Aloha software. They've been difficult to work with regarding these card readers, insisting that older terms can not be upgraded with them so new terms are required for Aloha 6.7 +.
You...
Thanks Coorsman! very helpful - I like that squirrel is running on Android tablets as well. You didn't mention integration with credit cards, I'd like to know your personal experience with that end of things; otherwise, I can RTFM on their website.
If you know anyone in the CA Bay Area I...
knectech is right, I missed, twice, that you're using 64 bit. very sorry about that, definitely easier to use 32 bit.
My bad. Is it possible to use a 64 bit OS? I'm sure but after several failed attempts gave up and went back to 32 bit OSs.
@posrescue your point is well taken there are some POS systems that rely on the internet to function which is rather insane for anything other than a small shop that can fall back to paper easily. There is much confusion about the buzzword cloud your analysis is correct.
I too am always...
the c++ runtime is a pain you have to have the exactly correct point release, I can't say for certain which ones I have in production, sorry. I've had problems when windows update changed the point release of the runtime. I think the alohainstall.msi had problems when I ran it straight as...
