The .DBX files are email messages that have already been deleted and therefore not of any further use. If I needed any of them they would not have been deleted.
Deleted Items folder is 250 MB
Inbox folder is 18.1 MB
Outbox folder is 7.13 MB
Sent Items folder is 119 MB
These are excessive in...
My .DBX folders are excessive in size. I need to know if I remove the contents of each folder will it hurt Outlook Express 6.0 SP2?
I will appreciate all help received.
For paulwood: You are right about Plus! because I deleted it and reinstalled to no avail. I did manage to fix the MSPaint thing though, I ran SFC and it was corrupted, I chose to extract it and MSPaint was available.
I have no other display related problems.
As for using Go Back, I'm not sure...
No Paul, there is no reload.vbs on my computer, I don't let any .vbs files linger long, scared to death of them, good or bad.
As for a virus, not hardly. I am running Norton Anti-Virus 2002 that was bundled with System Works 2002. I have auto. update running and when I boot it tells me if there...
This is a reply to Paulwood: No! I didn't try one of the other options but I will and see what happens. I will post back and let you know if I was able to get any shut down screen at all. You are right, this is real weird.
One thing I wanted you to know is that someone told me to check MSPaint...
Today I installed SUSD 2000 and chose to restore original logo screens for Logo.sys, Logow.sys and Logos.sys. All files have todays date and revisions have been noted. When I shut down and restarted nothing had been corrected.
I think perhaps I should uninstall Microsoft Plus! 98 after...
Sucess at last. Finally was able to download SUSD 2000 from the very last site sent to me by Smitee. I almost didn't bother to try after failing on the first three sites. Again I have spent all day trying to get that file. I sure hope it's worth it. I haven't installed it yet but it's on my...
You will not believe the trouble I have had trying to download SUSD Screens 3. The website, mirror site, Freewarefiles.com, and CNet Downloads all cannot download the file. I have been all day trying, now I am waiting for replies to my complaints from all the sites listed above except from...
Thank you Paul, but could you give me the URL for the program you mentioned? I guess that I could do a search but that might take a long time. I have never heard of that particular program, but I am willing to give it a try.
I had a crash and after rebooting, when I shut down the next time, my Windows Shut Down Logo looks like a cloth tweed pattern. I can shut down ok, but I would like to have my shut down screen back. I have Microsoft Plus! 98 installed and am using Windows 98 SE OS with IE 6. I have extracted...
Hi Rob, if you still don't have your volumn control speaker icon, try this: Open Control Panel, double-click on Multimedia and on Audio tab of Multimedia Properties dialog box, select "Show volumn control on the Taskbar" and click OK. You should then have what you are looking for.
Hi Smittee,
I thank you for all the suggestions on how to fix my problem. I too have given up. I unckecked the option to let System Check check for Disk Errors and will run NDD often. I do like all the tools probided by SystemWorks 2000 and I even gone so far as to upgrade to System Works...
Hi again Smittee,
The problem has returned, nothings changed. The delete and reinstall didn't help.
What can you suggest. I am ready to throw Norton's in the trash.
Thank you Smitee. This is what I've done with the information you sent me.
I shut down and restarted computer with Norton's Emergency Disk 1 in my A drive. It told me to insert Disk 2. Chosse surface test and ran NDD (only A & C drives were listed, no mention of my D hard drive), I choose C...
Another book you can try is called "The Windows 98 Registry-A Survival Guide for Users." It can be found at the Amazon.com website or try Barnes & Nobel. It's selling for $24.95.
Hi Smitee, that last URL worked perfectly and the problem it covers is mine exactly. There is one slight problem with the solution it gives, I know zilch about DOS, having cut my eyeteeth on Windows 95. I always get Bad Command Or File Name when I try to use it. Could I dare to ask if you could...
You are correct Smitee, that is what happens, only I don't use the Disk Health Sensor (I've been told it uses to much System Resources). I get the message when System Check is run.
I tried to use the link you sent but I get only a page with Symantec Knowledge Base Service & Support in the upper...
Thank you both Kento and GOAOZ.
I neglected to mention that when I was advised of the problem, the very first time and ran NDD, the problem wasn't fixed because it found no errors. Then I ran Windows ScanDisk and it too found no errors. But, i will run it again and fixed or not, I will return...
