Hey Thanks everyone, I guess I have all the info I need here, I do have Vista Ultimate so I just need to figure how to go from the 32 bit to 64 bit version.
I have installed 8GB of DDR2 RAM in a system I just built, the motherboard is XFX nForce 680iLT, the manual says it supports 8GB of RAM and it shows up during POST but when Vista Ultimate loads and the welcome center pops up it's only showing 2.25 GB of RAM, I ran the diagnostics test on the...
Actually the HDD I'm using is fairly new also with a fresh install of XP, are you saying that windows has itself configured for the PC it was originally installed on and does not recognize the new system? If that's the case I will probably just swap drives back over and leave things as they...
I recently replaced the motherboard in one of my PC's, everything went well and the system started up fine, since the new set up is better than the PC I use for music projects I decided to swap the hard drives and use the updated system with my music programs. All I did was swap the drives, now...
We actually use a router to share the same DSL modem, I'm pretty sure SP2 changed the settings on my PC but I don't know what it changed to cause this problem, how can I check the items that you mentioned if I decide to try to install SP2 again?
I downloaded sp2 and installed it on my system, then I couldn't sign on to the internet, I turned off the firewall and checked all my internet settings but still couldn't get a connection, my wife's computer is connected to the same DSL modem and I could still sign on just fine with her machine...
Drive not ready-System halted
This is all I get when We try to boot up my fiance's computer, it was fine yesterday, the machine in question is a Compaq 5000 series running win XP home, 1.4ghz p4.
I have switched the CMOS battery with one from another PC but this didn't help, it will boot to...
I use AVG virus software, it located a virus a while back and informed me that it had been removed, but ever since then I get a popup message when my PC sits idle for a few minutes, the message is as follows: Virus identified worm/ Agobot.6.H is found in system file C:/System volume...
Well, I have a much bigger problem now, I was messing around with the restore disc and it gave the option to restore Win98 without reformatting the HD, I went for it and now I'm at a dead end because I don't have the key code to restart windows, anyone know how to bypass this, just in case my...
I don't think the modem is the one that came with the machine, he said he installed a new modem, I have the disc and have already tried to re-install it from scratch, I get the same error about verifying the interupt for the port.
I took a modem from another machine and installed it into this...
Some more information to add in regards to the shutdown problem, when I tell it to shutdown, the screen goes black, it beeps 3 times and begins the bootup process.
I have discovered another puzzling problem, when I go into the start menu and tell the computer to 'Shutdown' it just restarts, every time, what's up with that?
The only way I have found to shut the machine off is to push the power button, of course it doesn't go through the shutdown procedure...
The modem is on COM 1, when I click the 'more info' button, that is when I am getting the message I listed above that says: "Modem is not responding, verify that the interupt for the port is properly set", when I click 'OK' the following window show the following info:
Port: 1...
Now we're getting somewhere, I'm getting a different error now, it says the modem failed to respond, and I need to verify the interupt for the port is set properly, how do I do that?
