Another (late) thought.
Try changing the output format from Pal to NTSC. On my TV if I use PAL it shows only in black and white, whereas NTSC show in colour. It might be something this simple.

Chris.
Hi guys.
Dare I say this - I work for Maplins, but obviously not the branch that you are having trouble with.
I have seen this problem before. A chap brought in a laptop that was displaying only in colour, using his S-video lead. He hooked it all up to a screen in the store and it was colour...
I'll suggest that to him - not something that we would sell but at least it's an option and gets him off my back.
Or I could tell him to move into town and get broadband :-)
Cheers
Chris
Thank you both very much. I would love to say that you have confirmed what I thought, but I would need to have had an idea at all to say that. :-)
Yes, Jimbo, it is a typical consumer-level store so I guess we are just servicing ADSL lines.
Thanks Matt - everytime I learn something new I...
That is a question I have been asking myself for months. I thought it was just another glitch with my machine :-)
Thinking about it, it does makes sense otherwise the 'wake on PS/2' option in BIOS wouldn't work.
I have searched high and wide on the net for a straight answer to this question.
I sell DSL and ADSL modems and routers in the store I work in, but although I know a fair bit about the technicalities of the connection process and that ADSL is a member of the DSL family and all that, the...
I think you guys missed my point. He has a modem built in but wants to use the laptop wirelessly - more money than sense some people, but it's not my place to tell him that, of course.
I guess the second computer is the only way then, but thanks for your feedback.

I used to work for a fire restoration company and what you describe is exactly what my brother does for a living. He uses a diluted mixture of citrus cleaner and smoke deodouriser in a spray bottle - sprays it on, agitates it with a soft paintbrush, then rinses it off under the tap...
I have a customer with a Sony laptop with onboard 802.11g capability. He wants to access a 56K dialup connection wirelessly (living in a village where no broadband supplier has bothered to venture).
The obvious (to me) solution was to connect wirelessly to a desktop with a modem, but the...
Hi
I am trying to use Medianca 700MB CDRW disks in a Yamaha CRW8424 drive. Whether I try Nero or Windows XP writing methods, the disks are reported as being unwritable.
It is unlikely that the disks themselves can all be faulty.
I have followed Yamaha's website instructions and connected the...
He means that underneath the motherboard are copper supporting pins that look similar to the holding pins on the back of your graphic card. The screws that hold the motherboard in screw into these pins, keeping the motherboard away from the bottom of your case.
You will probably have a...
Thanks for the replies.
I have been browsing other posts in the forum and suddenly realise that my PSU wattage may not be enough. I have some unscrewing and fiddling to do I think.
I like this site :-)
I am running a PII 450MHz with 256Mb Ram and 20Gb HDD. I have a Yamaha 8x4x24 CDRW installed along with a Memorex 52xCDROM. I am running XP Pro.
When I try to write a CD the machine reboots. There are no error messages, it just behaves as if the reset button has been switched. On restart the...
