this error is on the DC which when a net time is run shows itself. Also all domains member look at this dc for their time.

From what I can gather its due to the existing database being fragmented and in need of compacting due to redundant info (well not given its size) and the fact that the new database is clean anf fresh and only contains current information.

Yes it is. Could it be because the only dc was upgraded to 2003 from 2000? I am due to do a dcpromo on a new 2003 server I have put in recently maybe then it may work?
I have raised the functional level of my domain and forest to 2003. However when I run the dsquery user -inactive command I never get any results? It does appear to run but does not return anything.
