Other: "You up for Coffee this afternoon?"

I'll bet FAGHAG had to prove that was his & her initials.

Years ago, the chairman of a liquor firm in Connecticut wanted COCKTAIL on his plates. But the limit was six letters, so he asked to have the first half of the word on his car, and the second half on his wife's car.

Alas, Connecticut rejected that one.

Spotted this morning on the way into work...
JOYSEE - I'm assuming this is a native of New Jersey. If that's the case, it was funny to see it on an Illinois plate on a car being driven in Indiana.

I saw PUSH247. Either she was pregnant a lot or worked in maternity at the hospital. Or maybe her car broke down a lot.

Or a workaholic in general perhaps?

I saw this one on a Camero (alas, not the new one) that went flying past me this morning:

On a flashy black Corvette: 5!X$CFCU

The CFCU could be Coastal Federal Credit Union, but I'm not sure about the rest.

On an SUV: SHAWTBUS

I'm guessing "short bus." I hope he meant his SUV and not that he used to ride one. Or maybe his name was "T. Shaw."

I love the dual references in the Frazz cartoon for July 11, 2009 (yes, it involves a vanity plate [smile]):

Who, actually, would be performing the strip search? <grin>

Punctuation does change meaning: a present semi-colon can certainly affect meaning. And as my wife said six children ago:

AFR 2L - This one had an Air Force logo on it...I'm guessing this person is a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserves.

Saw this one today ( and was careful not to follow to closely)

Yep, I remember that you are allowed to wear a six shooter on the side, but it has to be openly visible, otherwise you could be arrested for carrying a concealed weapon... ;-)

Hi,
And now you can carry concealed weapons into bars ( but you cannot drink alcohol - Yeah right, all bartenders know how to do a pat-down search)..

There was a bill introduced to eliminate the permit and training requirement for carryinbg a concealed weapon but it did not pass ( this session, anyway)

Wow... AZ has become a more dangerous place, I guess...

In Germany, you are only allowed a gun (small caliber) when you are a member of a shooting club, and then only in the trunk of the car when you transit from the home to the club house... or you are a collector and then the gun has to be manipulated in such a way that it cannot fire any more...

Yes, Ben, you guessed...but you guessed wrong. Without exception, in the U.S. areas with more liberal "gun carry" laws have lower rates of death by firearms than do those areas with the most stringent "gun carry" laws.

In Texas, where gun carrying is a virtual birthright, the death-rate by firearm (10.4 per 100K) is half that of Washington D.C. (20.6 per 100K) where the gun-carry laws are most stringent in the U.S.

Here in Utah, where virtually everyone I know has a "concealed weapons" permit (and carries wherever they are allowed), our death-rate by firearm (9.2 per 100K) is also less than half of D.C.'s

So, I guess the question is, where would a felon feel safer plying her/his trade...in D.C. or in a "gun carry" state?

Santa - strange, that last year Reuters said the exact opposite...
WASHINGTON, April 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- States in the South and West
with weak gun laws and high rates of gun ownership lead the nation in overall
firearm death rates
according to a new analysis issued today by the Violence
Policy Center (VPC) of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data.
source: 'Pro-Gun' States Lead the Nation in Per Capita Firearm Death Rates
now the overall death rate is 10.3 per 100k in the US, compare that to Germany with 1.17/100k or Japan with 0.07/100k, where the laws on gun ownership are more stringent, and then consider also Finnland with an 6.86/100k with a gun ownership of nearly 50%...

so the real question should be, not about owning a gun, but to use it sensibly...

PS: The US is still not the ranking country in the world, this honor is held by Brazil with 14.15/100k, closely followed by Estonia (12.74/100k) and Mexico (12.07/100k)...

PSS: I am far from Anti-Gun ownership, even though I was not allowed to own one while I lived in Georgia...
