Another gold-"plated" milestone...We're starting our Lucky 13th Vanity Plates thread (since our previous thread has exceeded 100 posts and is slow in loading).

Over Spring Break we travelled from Utah to Phoenix (via Las Vegas)...Saw these great plates/tags:

Code:
[b]SLZBAG[/B] (On an Arizona Ford SUV)

[b]JAGROAR[/B] (On an Arizona Jaguar Sovereign)

[b]SSAFLAH[/B] (On a Nevada car which I didn't get until I read it in my rear-view mirror)

Saw one over the holidays.
H8 COLD
Since it was a Nebraska plate my initial reaction was, "Boy, do you live in the wrong state!

Saw this one at one of the local schools.

Over the weekened...

H8 GZLRS - On a Prius
BREMBO - On a Mercedes (AMG I believe)

Pardon my density, but what does the BREMBO mean?

Brembo is a manufacturer of high performance brakes. Look at the bright red or yellow calipers between the wheel spokes of just about any AMG Mercedes, BMW, Corvette, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Ducati, race cars of all breeds, and many others.

I saw one in Nashville the other day heading home from work

SXYGRL

it was false :(

That reminds me. One time a long time ago I was behind a pink car that had a bumper sticker that said "Honey Hips". Intrigued by the possibility of a cute girl, I sped up to see who was driving. Behind the wheel was a big hairy, overweight, unshaven, burly, truck driver looking guy. At that point I seriously hoped that the car belonged to someone else and he was just borrowing it.

Saw this on a Porsche Cayman: CAMAN8R

Saw this one that really needed 8 characters: TTWWINN

Saw this one this morning...

[tt]CRZYNYR[/tt]

I'm guessing Crazy New Yorker?

Is there any other kind of New Yorker?

I saw this one on a white Silverado, with fire department plates:

Interesting use of phonetics to get around the character limitation.

Anyone ever see a quizz show called Bumper Stumpers? (pathetic, but I was without a compensatory engagement and had a lot of time - and need - to veg and limited no of cable stations). It had a short run - the show, not my involuntary sabatical.

I like the story about the guy that picked NO PLATE after his first two choices were turned down and police officers being wont to write NO PLATE on parking tickets for cars with no plates, got 2500 parking tickets from all over the state, don't know which state.

I heard about that. There was also a guy with the plate NONE (in Nevada, IIRC), who had the same problem.

Poor planning of of the ticket violation system (and poor training of data entry operators) are to blame. You have manual entry of a plate number, and no way to indicate on the paper ticket that there really is no plate (i.e., the vehicle is not registered or the plate is missing/stolen, etc.), you'll get this nonsense. Maybe once police departments move to electronic ticketing there will be a checkbox to indicate that condition. In such cases, they ought to scan the VIN of the vehicle for identification purposes.

And back in 1979, a couple in Connecticut with he first names of Irving and Anna had had the personalized plate set IRAN on their car for many years. When the hostage crisis provoked some nasty threats, they opted to change to anonymous, regular-series plates instead.

I feel like a bird watcher reporting a rare sighting. I just saw a Volkswagen Eurovan (very rare in California) with the plates [tt]EUROPUG[/tt].

That reminds me. Guess what car VBDLYU was on?
