Upgrade Radiant P1220 to PosReady 2009 3

I have two used Radiant P1220 with XP Embedded. I would like to upgrade these to PosReady 2009 so I can write some Pos.net code for a friend of mine that owns a non-profit cafe in a sports facility. These were purcharased used. What is the easiest way to upgrade them to PosReady 2009. The OS is installed on a flash drive, but I do not know if it is CF or Udoc.

Here is my update. Either the multiple attempts of bootable USB PE are not working or my "Removable Device" option in the BIOS of the p1220 is a farce. I am trying this method:

If it works, maybe it might help someone else. I have now wiped my drive and if I need new activation keys, will need to buy them. I am trying to figure out how I get the XP OS onto the hard drive without a CD. I am a bit confused but I have not attempted to restore the POSReady .wim file yet. If ANYBODY is around, I would love some help.

Now that I have this wim file, what should I do with it. I tried coping to a win7posready cd, but no luck. I am used to ghosting the image

Coorsman, The .wim file you uploaded on Cubby when opening in AIK will not load. In above reference you said it was 1.9 gig, this file is only 1.2gig. Any chance you have a different wim file

That's weird. It opens with 7zip and I can browse all the directories w/o problems.
It is specifically for a 4GB udoc not a hard drive.

I can dig up my instructions to load this onto any machine. As long as you have access to a windows 7 machine to make the necessary images, it's actually quite easy (after about 10 hours of trial and error). Let me know if it is something you want.

Oh!!! I don't know what udoc is. Mine was for a hard disk machine. If that's not what you're after, my in for is useless. I also have the image I used.

in Europe, look for a Reflection dealer and maybe take a look. Good software, easy to use and has enough features to do what you're looking for probably. I've never seen Focus so can't tell you there, know more about POSitouch as we sell that. Closer to the higher end but has more features than most POS systems and easy to integrate other software to.

Absolutely agree with Coorsman on the 'Free Systems'. Harbourtouch for example is a slimmed down version of I think SilverWare which isn't that good in the full version. Software as a Service is not too bad, more like a lease and at the end you should have a buy out or be able to replace the entire system and start new again, probably cheaper the second time because you won't need training or much for reprogramming. SaS is more expensive than just buying or the old style lease but you do get the support and repairs. You won't find yourself on the message boards as much if you have a good software and hardware contract. You just have to do your numbers.

Any chance you can repost the P1220 PosReady 2009 Hard Drive image? The Udoc one doesn't work on a HDD, crashes when loading at drvmain.sdb.

That works, Thank you Coorsman.

Here is how I did it for anyone who wants an easy way
Unzipped .wim to a freshly formated external harddrive drive
Then ghosted drive to GHO file on bootable usb ghost drive
Was then able to ghost to terminal
Installed VNC as last step and then created new ghost image 2.5 gigs

I have just picked up a Radiant 1220 from a restaurant that closed down. I think it only has a 1GB uDOC, no CF card or hard drive installed. It also came with an Epson Printer and a Cash Drawer. I'd like to be able to set this up as a register, but I don't have the file server or the key to use the software on there. Is there a different (Read Free) POS system that I can install on the device that will support this terminal?

I'm just hoping I didn't waste my money on this system if I am unable to use it.

You will need the aloha license key in order to operate aloha. What kind of restaurant do you have? table service or quick service?

To answer the question you asked.

there are many free open source pos out there. Sourge force has many to choose from that are all open source.

Your challenges will be the 1 gig udok. You can add a 2.5 IDE harddrive and mount on the back side under the cover. You could also purchase a 16 gig flash drive and install as secondary master ide drive. You would then not have to rely on the udok any longer. The next challenge will be to upgrade the OS to a newer embedded OS. As well as upgrade the physical memory.

I hope you did not spend to much on the terminal. They sell on ebay for around $200
