Upgrade NS700 from V4 to V9

Hi
I have an NS700 @ V004.60012 & intend to upgrade to V9. Can I do this in one hop, or would I need to upgrade in two steps
ie V4-V6 then V6-V9 or V4-V8 then V8-V9

I have upgraded from V5 to V8 and then V9
and failed to upgrade directly from V5 to V9.
