Trying to hook up UPAM to IP 500 V2 I can page to my butt set directly through the port ext port 316 but the page will not come through speakers. speakers are good Any help would be appreciated

Two May Toes

This is what i got now. Ext 316 set to paging speaker. Attached bogen 600 ohm tfmr directly to port and it is working great. When using UPAM does port need to be set up as IVR. Also i want to get external ring through paging speakers. Any help with that one. Thanks

yes when using UPAM port needs to be IVR.. There are setting om upam for rining I believe

upam seems dead i cannot put a but set on it and page to speakers going across phone system t and r To get external ringing from the system to go through overhead speakers can i use same ext 316 or do i need to use a different ext

To page through a UPAM with a butt set, requires that the UPAM be configured for Loop Start Trunk access, so if you are using an extension, that will not work.

The UPAM does NOT offer ringing over paging - see the manual
Perhaps your amplifier has an input for 90VAC ringing, use another analogue station port, not programmed and IVR, and connected to that input.

I am able to page when hooked up to bogen 600 ohm directly to analog port and set to page speaker.
I am able to page through UPAM when it is set to 24V and analog port is hooked up to T and R on Phone sys side of upam. Also set to page speaker.
I know weird.
So the only way to have external lines ring over the PA sys is to have a separate amplifier a UPAM will not work

forgot to mention this is not a 70v system it is a self contained 24v page sys

FYI a few ways this works.

1. Self amplified speakers. Hook analog port directly to Bogen 600ohm transformer then go to speakers (24v) program port for page speaker works great

2 70 volt amp Same as above but run wire from 600ohm transformer to amp input adjust accordingly.

Both ways mentioned above have no issues with contact closures etc works great

Going through a UPAM.

1. Hook up analog port to Phone system T and R of UPAM hook up speakers to page output. I needed to have power to UPAM hooked up in order for this to work This works ok. Problem here is if the system loses power or somehow the off hook does not show on the analog port you will get a busy signal when you dial the page ext. I had no luck using the IVR setting here. I used page port.

If you are doing paging use a 600 ohm Bogen transformer and you should have no headaches.

My issues here is still getting an over head ring to come out over the page speakers without an amplifier any hel=-

I use paging port for when I'm taking a upam out of the loop. Have you just hooked up an analog port to the upam then called that extension? I use IVR for when I need the disconnect tone. (i.e. people call 200, page and hang up the phone before the amp disconnects thus broadcasting tone over the speakers) IVR will send the disconnect tone and end the page.
