kwb, this is the one forum in Tek-Tips where we do often keep our colleagues "honest" when it comes to grammatical, typographical, and other types of linguistic errors. When it happens, it is not out of a desire to troll, but out of our linguisic obligations. <grin>

kwb,
I was trying to point out that, amusingly I thought, SQLScholar was discussing his son's misunderstanding of which homophone of 2 was being used, and, in the process of doing so, he himself got it wrong.

I would not normally bring up such issues (note, for example my ignoring of the use of the lower case "i" in the same quote), but I thought that the fact that he had made the same mistake as his son was funny. Besides which, as Santa says, this is MAI.

However, I'm sorry if I struck an annoying or offensive note - my aim was for droll, not troll.

cmeagan's post reminds me of a realated "twin-word" issue that arose in our family many years ago: Our neighbor lady invited our then-5-year-old son, James, to be the ring bearer at her wedding.

After James had walked the aisle, and the groom untied the ring from the little white pillow and placed the ring on the bride's finger, James blurts out in tears:
James said:
But I didn't get to wear the bear suit !

So beware the high emotions and upset that can result from the difference between ring bearer and ring bear.

My friend, a flooring specialist, showed me a work order from a woman that wanted to replace the ceramic tile in her kitchen with Parkay flooring.

(I wonder which would be more expensive per square foot/meter: Parkay or parquet.)

==> ceramic tile in her kitchen with Parkay flooring.
Sounds like that would be butter than ceramic tile.

The comic strip Frazz does a play on twin words. They're just not used that much anymore.
