• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience.
• A+ certification and/or MCSA/MCSE certification.
• Two (2) to Four (4) years of PC troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and software administration.

My favorite part is the A+ and OR MCSA/MCSE .... so either you know your irq numbers, orrrr you know Windows. Hmm the HR director needs either a brain and or a different job.

Another example of stupid keywords: I saw an ad looking for five years of COBOL III experience. Catch: What's COBOL III? Never heard of it.

And woe to those qualified people that knew that there is no such thing.

Hmm... seems like whoever termed it COBOL III had relatives that worked at Ellis Island... They might be refering to different versions of COBOL:

So they might actually be looking for someone with experience with what they think is/call COBOL III...

I'm sure it will be an entertaining read for many.

Yep it is. It's a common misconception, which is why I pointed it out. While there's no such product as "COBOL III", there seems to be a BUNCH of people out there referring to something called that. I've had to explain that many times on tech boards myself.

I beleive that, that goes along with some product which people keep refering to here and on other forums (yes I know, I'm a bad man for posting on other forums) called SQL Server 2003. SQL 2000 yes, SQL 2005 yes, SQL 2003 nope never seen that one.

Maybe it's used by the same folks?

MCSA (2003) / MCDBA (SQL 2000)
MCTS (SQL 2005 / Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: Configuration / Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007: Configuration)
MCITP Database Administrator (SQL 2005) / Database Developer (SQL 2005)

I think some people here use SQL 2003. Its' basically a folder full of linked excel spreadsheets, with a few macros thrown in for good measure. Fun times :-(

Ignorance of certain subjects is a great part of wisdom
