I find the help files less the adequate on this subject and did a round of testing to fully understand the new concept.

I hope the attached document gives a far better explanation than the official "pamphlet".

Is it me or is this option totally confusing?
All we wanted was a time profile which could be overridden by a button or shortcode.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Good work Gunnar, another star for you

Peter, I do consider my knowledge above average when it comes to IPO, but I had to sit down and simulate for 2 hours (the config loads like syrup now) to fully cover all aspects. Indeed it's confusing!

Let's imagine a fairly normal customer, with 20 different departments around the country.
Everyone has their own opening hours, their special holiday settings, overflows to other departments, etc...

Just for regular opening hours you need 100 short codes!

Kind regards

Gunnar

To be honest i am glad you took the time for it as i didn't and i didn't feel the need either :)
I am at a certain point in my life that i stop caring which hurts my Avaya heart.
Like that provisioning issue, i go mad soon and our channel account manager will hear it.
How can it be that this issue is still there after a bloody fucking year?
Provision works till you change the fucking config which is not something that is rare.
There are two new sales guys (out of the four) who are really Mitel minded and my first Mitel job in a very long time is waiting for me.
I need to move over or find a new job as Mitel will be core business.
I don't mind working on Avaya with bugs but almost none of the systems has IPOSS.
But when they sell it i get a freaking heart attack getting IPOSS registered [thumbsdown].

Half of it seem a bit useless. But I can see a use in the the latching function. And it can also be a button, not just a short code. Took me a while to find that part out... as they have made short codes and button features a separate document and not part of the help file. 230 page document none the less.

Its easiest to do this using the status button on handsets when they are allowed to effect the group states :)

Also, that way you don't burn any codes or buttons :)

Yeah, like we all have time to poke around in a 230 page doc when the you're out in the field:) It should at least been called Override, not Latch...at least to me that sounds like door fittings.

Damn, I have become my father; it was better before.

Kind regards

Gunnar

I only mentioned the Status button as not many people know how that works or even that it exists and that it's even better now....not to make you feel old...though you are.

Also where have they put the list of supported sets, what release they are supported at, what the buttons look like, how many buttons and also the pictures of the handsets themselves????? That's all omitted from the current Help files too :)

Found a list of phones that supports the new TP feature:

Code:

1100 Series:	No
1200 Series:	No
1400 Series:	Yes
1600 Series:	Yes
2400 Series:	No
3600 Series:	No
3700 Series:	No

4100 Series:	No
4400 Series:	No
4600 Series:	No
5400 Series:	No
5600 Series:	No
6400 Series:	No

9500 Series:	No

I don't mean for this feature, I mean overall on the system. It used to list all handsets the system supported what they looked like etc etc in the Help files :)

Seems a bit ridiculous that it isn't supported on the 9500's, but 1400's are all good..

It is supported an works fine on 9500s, that's just poor documentation...again :)

Well done Gunni that is pretty simple.
in short we no-longer set & clear NS on the group, we set the Time profile status instead with a few extra options that will increase flexibility (manual open as well as manual close).

looks like time profiles on ICR will become a lot more usable & clean up getting separate Day & Night messages on Embedded VM nicely :)

Now that's just wonderful!

Took a quick look at a couple of the other languages available:

Code:
Menüoption Beschreibung
Geplanter Betrieb Keine Überschreibung. Das Zeitprofil wird gemäß
					Konfiguration betrieben

Fantastic! In Germany there's no "Latch Inactive"...And is really Riegel something a German would say?
(@Westi & Florian)

Code:

Зафиксировать активное состояние, that translates roughly to Fixed Active state or Lock in Operational Condition

Way better description!

Was the documentation written in Russian and things got lost in translation?

But they all fail miserably, claiming the "Next Timed Inactive"-features can only be used for Profiles with multiple time schedules.
That's BS! It works as an override on single entry Time Profiles too, it's just going to span over one or several days.

Oh well, I'm barking up the wrong tree here. [peace]

Kind regards

Gunnar

Well let me say i know somebody who works for Luxoft (avaya software) and lives in the Ukraine :)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

@IPGuru, yes it looks like they figured out the most complicated way to give us what we wanted...
We just need to think things through thoroughly before deploying a Time Profile to more than one HG/ICR/User.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Good work Gunnar!

You wouldn't say "Riegel" in German. The nearest would be to say "verriegelt". Or perhaps "manuell aktiviert".

Is it really documented as "Riegel aktiv" two times? I didn't check the help files so far...

Start for you...
