Hi all,

I have a computer with win95. Sometimes it's start correct. other times the computer will not start. I try to start in save mode (F8) but then I can't do anything. I can't use my keyboard or my mouse. I have to restart then and most of the times I can't start then either.

Is there a way to find out what's my problem is?
yes? plz help me

thanks in advance.

Can you give more details please. When did this behavious start, any recent software/hardware changes, any major crashes, viruses? What exactly happens when it won't start (eg, does it get as far as starting to load windows, do you get specific error messages etc).

there were no recent changes in the system. I do not get an error or something. the computer just stop when I can see the Windows 98 loading screen. then he won't go any further.

It sounds like your windows register needs cleaned. Go to google.com and search for regclean. Download the executable file. I had problems starting my computer also and this helped. GOOD LUCK!!

When it does start - look in device manager (system properties) and see if you have any problem devices.
You could try enabling the bootlog option (from same F8 safe mode menu) - this will produce a test file in root of C: for you to look at.

Are you short of disk space?

If you want to try a registry cleaner, the best free one (IMHO) is at - get the power tools, its got better cleaner.

Look in config.sys and autoexec.bat (in root of C:) to see if anything odd is trying to load (should not be many entries - something like - (autoexec)
mode con codepage prepare=((850) C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\ega.cpi)
mode con codepage select=850
keyb uk,,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\keyboard.sys

(config)
device=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\display.sys con=(ega,,1)
Country=044,850,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\country.sys

these are win98 but 95 much the same.

As its win95, you may just need to backup, format drive and reinstall.
