We have some laptops with Windows XP. The Start button on the buttom of the screen disappeared on one of the laptops. According to the user, she did not know what happened because she didn't do any thing differently than usual.

Now we can not go to any places from the laptop desktop since windows XP put every thing under one roof(inside of Start Menu). We can go no where without the Start button.

Does any one have any ideas how to bring the Start button back to the screen? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (-:

Two ideas... one, its likely that your keyboard has a little button between ctrl and alt with the windows logo, press it, the start menu may appear... if that doesn't work, hold the button and press r, then release both.. this will open up run... in run type "c:\" this will take you to your drive root and then you can explore... Also.. have you restarted? If you don't want to cold boot press ctrl+alt+del and there is a shut down menu.. use that...

You could try using System Restore to return to a point when you had the start button.

Do you do a virus check reguarly?
