Does anyone have any tips on changing the color on the green start button?

Try the apperances tab on the Display Properties. I remember finding it somewhere there on my XP machine. Under advanced options or something

I think START is always green in XP - at least with the MS themes.

right click on your taskbar, properties, start menue, seleck classic style

also right click on your desktop, themes and chose windows classis.
that will make your start button gray. dont know if thats what you were looking for though
