Well, I had Minolta email me the new drivers they have that fixes my print problem. However, I can't install the new drives I'm getting the following error:

-----
Minolta Page Works/Pro 1100L Error
Find a new version in this system.
Setup will terminate.
(If you want to install this old version, please uninstall previous version first.)
-----

I opened up the registry and tried removing the drivers just like this KB said: I removed all the drivers in WINNT\System32\Spool\Drivers Like it said, rebooted several times and I still get the error when trying to run setup for the new drivers.

I'm almost to the point of formatting and reinstalling.

Any suggestions?

Policekauk:

I still have the same problems. I haven't really done anything to try and fix it though, either. I see you've already decided not to install SP4, but if you or anybody else does decide to try it, make sure you say YES when the installer asks if it should keep backup copies of the files it will change. I always have said No to that question, but now I can't uninstall SP4 because of it.

PlanetHigh,

The way I fixed the problem was just deleting the folder where the minolta has installed the software. Then I went through the registry and just deleted anything taht had minolta attached to it. I couldn't use the uninstall either. After you remove the minnolta related stuff from your registry then go install it. I had no problems at all.

I use MyIE2 which tended to crash sometimes while I try shutdown the pc. After SP4 my system is shutting down much faster.

...while unistalling the old driver my pc crashed but had no problem installing the new one

I know this is an old thread, but here's the problem I'm sure many have faced with this printer. The "cover is open" message pops up when I try to print. I have contacted Minolta and they have decided to stop supporting this laser printer. With all the service pack updates I've done and a new OS (WinXP) installed on my PC, the only solution is to cancel the error message, turn off the printer and turn it back on, the printer works fine after doing this. However, I have also had to reinstall from win2k since there is no XP driver for this printer. One last thingn that I also had to try was assigning it to a different printer port. If anyone has a better solution let me know! I've not even printed 200 sheets with this darn printer!!

I am not familiar with the printer, but lets stop the notifications of perceived errors.

Start, Printers and Faxes, File, Server Properties, Advanced tab, uncheck any notification options on that page.

bcastner,

I don't have any notifications checked. Bit and I still get that cover is open error.
