If a group can can agree on a time and a place to get together, put a face with name, just have a little fun, would anyone be interested?

If you're in the south central USA, in or around Louisiana, and would be interested, let's try to nail something down and post in this thread when and where might be workable.

Thadeus - If you're interested in trying to set something up in the Philly area, please feel free to start a thread for that.

If the Research Triangle folks, or anyone else, is interested for their area, please feel free to start a thread for that purpose.

I only ask that we keep it to one thread per region, and we'll using this one for south central USA.

Good Luck

Rats! Your timing is very poor, I was in Louisana in Feb!

I think it's a great idea, the UK Beery Meets (tm) have been a real success - we've managed about 12 in the last 2 years. Putting faces to names has proved great fun, and most people who have turned out for one have come back!! It's a good way to meet a bunch of very nice people.

Good luck with organising it, I hope you get a good turn out!

As in beer consummed while meeting? Sounds like a plan to me.

Sorry we missed you. What a shame.

If enough people are interested, maybe we can select a central location.

So far, the geographically cental location seems to be Alexandria, LA.

Anybody know what there is to do in Alec?

That's certainly a possibility.

I'm kind of hoping we'll get a few interested folk from Mobile. That should pull the center closer to New Orleans. Not, of course, that I really need an excuse to go to New Orleans.

That's true - or maybe Baton Rouge. Gulfport MS is not out of the question either.

> beer consummed while meeting

This certainly seems to be a central pillar of UK meets ...

Well then, far be it from us to break precedent.

Presumably you've seen/heard of the film 'Ice Cold in Alex' and it's famous final scene? Beer seems a good enough reason to me!

This is definitely a ripoff of the TTUK Beery Meets[sup]TM[/sup].

TTUK Copyright lawyers are watching this thread very closely... [wink]

animadverto vos in Abyssus!

Take a look at Forum1393!

I'm from Mobile but I have a couple of customers in Alexandria. I vote for Gulfport though.

I think they role the sidewalks up at about 6:00 pm in Alec, but they do serve cold beers in some places. Perhaps south of I-10 would be a good choise.

Baton Rouge is only a little over an hour away for me. Straight shot up I-12. Gulfport about the same.

Me transmitte sursum, Caledoni!

From those who have spoken up (Mobile to Shreveport), Baton Rouge sounds like a reasonable location.

How does Saturday, July 16, at a to be determined location in Baton Rouge sound like?

I'm in.

Let us know where and the time. I'm looking forward to it.

I've been led to believe there is a Buffalo Wild Wings just off I-10 at the Bluebonnet exit. It's a sports bar which might be a good place to meet, at least initially, as there are lots of other places in that general area.

To avoid the paralysis of analysis, I'll offer Buffalo Wild Wings on Bluebonnet around 6 o'clock on Saturday, July 16 - at least as an option.

I would also suggest that spouses are more than welcome, even with the understanding they may charter the TTSSG (Tek-Tips Spouse Support Group).
