Softphone IPO r11 1

I have an r11 essential and I’m having a complete brain fart about what licenses I need. Probably run communicator on a pic and iPhone.

I believe equinox is the softphone for R11, of which I believe either a teleworker or poweruser license will work. What about onex?

Can I use communicator with an IP Endpoint License?

Do I need an IP endpoint license if I go the power user/telework route?

Equinox doesn't work with an endpoint license. Eventually as third party endpoint. But I never tested this.

If you have power user you don't need the endpoint license as long as you want to use it as a softphone only. If you would like to use it in parallel to a Deskphone the Deskphone will need an endpoint license as well.

With Essential Edition you need the Softphone license. With Preferred you order Power User. I made this mistake (actually my disti told me to order Power User and it shows as dormant). To use Equinox you must set-up the extension as SIP. You do not need an IP Endpoint License, but you do need VCM channels. I have it working on Essential R11 this way.
