If you have recently encountered a slow shut down problem with your W2K system take heed. Uninstalling Windows security update Q329170 and Q328310 will most likely fix it.
This information came to me though this board from user "balls" (see post "Unable to logoff current user"
This fix worked for me. During uninstallation, you will be presented with a list of installed software that may not function properly if these updates are removed. I can not say if you will need to reinstall any software. I didnt need to. My system now boots down like it used to, in seconds not minutes.
