Hi - I am new to IP Office. I have a customer with 6-7 small offices ( 5-10 phones each). The offices are currently on a VPN for data communications and they want to be able to network IP Office phone systems across this network using SCN. They don't want to spend the money for Voice Mail Pro. Can I do SCN using Embedded VM?

Each office would have its own land lines, and its own AA. They would use SCN to call office to office and to route some calls off the AA to a Hunt Group at another site?

Thanks.

No, it isn't a supported configuration.

VM pro offers you a better solutio.

If you turn off SCN and route calls using shortcodes, you can have embedded VM at all sites

You'll lose BLF and other SCN features

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Although it isn't supported it should work.
I never have seen issues with a SCN an the use of embedded voicemail.
But if you do have issues then no way Avaya will help.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

Thanks to all for your responses.

Another question I have is that the data vendor has informed me the VPN uses a "modified" spoke and hub configuration. Will this work with SCN or does SCN require a mesh or star configuration?

Thanks

That should work. you may not be able to use direct media path. I usually create all my SCN's as hub and spoke.

Only issue you may have with using SCN and embedded voicemail is if you call from one site to another and it goes to voicemail you mayend up being presented to your own mailbox.

Can never remember the exact scenario that this happens, but I know it happened for a customer of ours recently that had VM pro at the main site and embedded at the remote site. A call from the main site to the remote site that went to voicemail ended up in the callers mailbox not the recipients mailbox.
